So what was the answer to this conundrum? Spurs fans still happy about losing the CL final, or are Chelsea fans happier having won the Europy?
It’ll hurt Spurs a lot more right now but I’d rather be a fan of a team that can reach a CL Final, the levels are different and that’s my opinion.
Unhappy about losing but will be very happy if we never get the chance to win the Europa because we never return to that level
Because then you win a real cup the next season Of course, if you have a #fraud manager there on luck then just take whatever trophy you can at the time
You should only ever be in the Europa League because the manager you just sacked put you there and now you're making the most of it
total prize money available for winning £70m for CL £15m for EL (about what you'd get if you made it to the group stage of CL and lost every game)
That's the problem with your "make them up as I go along" rules Astro. We have to chalk them off one by one as you make a pigs ear of it
Winning the Europa league final or losing the Champions League final? ... stop being silly ... Chelsea and Liverpool fans will both have had very memorable "I was there" celebrations ... Spurs and Arsenal fans on the other hand, likely just wanting to be back home ...
It was always going to depend on the matches themselves. If Spurs had lost a ding dong match 3-2 and made some effort they could have at least been gallant losers of a great game. As it goes, the game was utter ****e, but at least Liverpool tried to score so got their (deserved) reward. Spurs went home having pandered to an over rated bang average player who was shown to he out of his deapth. A million pennies should be dropping as to where they are in the grand scheme of things. Chelsea, on the other had, slaughtered Arsenal and won an actual pot. It's not even a contest as to who will be happier, **** prize money as actual supporters really shouldn't give a toss about that.
If you isolate both games then obviously winning a EL is better than losing a CL Final. I’m not looking at it like that, I’d enjoy beating Rotherham at home more than losing a CL Final but when you look at the bigger picture it’s no contest, the EL is a waste of time and wrecks domestic seasons for English clubs in general.
Quite an elitist view Tel ... anybody below the Big 6 would ****ing love winning the Europa ... for many teams, just getting to Wembley for any game is the pinnacle ...
I get that ... but I remember us getting onto Europe under Martin O'Neil after winning the League Cup in the late 90s ... that was the Europa and it felt like as good as it was ever going to get ... to have actually gone on and won that would have been awesome. . Little did we know what lay ahead
