Sky Italy are reporting that Sarri has told the club that he wants to leave. Not sure what to think really. Part of me wants him to stay but part of me thinks he should go.
Its probably a few things 1) Dick head fans singing stupid songs at him 2) Our transfer ban 3) Dick head primma donna players who think they are more important than the manager 4) Juve have come calling, probably hard to turn down for an Italian manager, thats the pinnacle really.
I think you’re right - one transfer ban is bad enough but getting two is carelessness; that and the League cup humiliation convinced Sarri that his career path lies elsewhere.
I’m on the side of him leaving. Not convinced he will ever get us to the required level. Don’t believe in Sarri ball when players like Kante are marginalised for someone like Jorginho who can’t score and doesn’t assist. All season long he failed to find goals from anywhere except Hazard, and he ignored logic by keeping RLC and Hudson Odoi on the bench. He favoured the hopeless Higuain too often and generally showed his stubbornness to the detriment of the team. Even allowing him time to adjust, his lack of tactics and poor subs suggests he is not to the standard to succeed in the PL, as he has always been second best even in the soft Seria A. Good luck to him, but we need more flair, imagination, power, running and especially attitude to get where we want to go.
The AC Milan job is probably the best job in Italian football - the pinnacle, then Inter Milan - hasn’t Antonio Conte got that job? By European Champions’ Cups won, Juventus are third in that pecking order. Sorry to be pedantic. Personally, I’d like Sarri to stay. Overall he’s done well and brought back the Europa League trophy from Baku.
I am not fussed either way to be honest. I think the guy may have taken us as far as he can, unless he is willing to be flexible with his tactics. But I would be willing to give him another season if he wanted to stay. As for Italy, nah, Juventus are top club in Italy. They won as many scudettos as AC and Inter combined
Looks as if Sarri to Juve is done. Now we will see what our Management is made of. They have 2 choices now, rebuild for the future or muddle on for the season with too many almost-past-it players, and spend like maniacs again after the ban.
I know most people want franky boy. He will get my support but id be honestly very underwhelmed. All sentiment and be like united hiring giggs or ogs
They dont really have much choice but to muddle on with the past-it players we have, since we cannot sign anyone. I think a few of the players who were out on loan last season will feature. I can see Batshit and Zouma getting some play time, and hopefully RLC and CHO will get to play a lot more, but thats about it And of course we have Pulisic coming in, would be nice for him to turn out good. Other than that we are stuck with what we have I am afraid.
Imo we messed up when the fans started booing sarri. He was meant to be our manager for the long term and we have booed him away. Now we are back on the manager merry go round
Agreed. I would love Frank to become a great manager and take the reins at Chelsea one day. But he had one pretty decent season in the Championship, that sort of CV isn't really what we should be looking at, Chelsea Legend or no.
I cant see zouma getting too much time. Luiz christensen and rudi will be the first choice in defence. Batshit might get a bit of a chance and i hope he does well as he seems like a nice guy and he has the goalscoring ability. The issue with him he all round play is like a poor mans lukaku. Hopefully cho and rlc recover properly but cho really has to sign a new contract but i suspect hes playing us like a fiddle
Yup, I dont blame him one iota for wanting to leave. A lot of idiot fans turned on him faster than an oyster in a heatwave. He achieved more in his first season at Chelsea than Pep did in his first season at City, and with a much inferior squad to boot. Not saying he was perfect, he was very predictable with his substitutions, and he needed to be a bit more flexible with his tactics sometimes, but it was his first season. Managers sometimes need time to adapt just as much as players.
Thought luiz was looking good at the end of the season but i agree we should be phasing him out. The only concern i have is that between rudiger, Christensen and zouma, none of them seem to be that vocal and won't lead or manage the defence
