Jamie Shackleton has been called up to England's U20s squad for the Maurice Revello Tournament in Toulon.

Shacks has featured 24 times for the Whites last term.

He'll be joined by Tom Pearce, who lifted the trophy last year with England.




Leeds have set aside £5m this summer purely to fund short-term loan signings that will give Marcelo Bielsa the best squad with which to work.


That money will cover loan fees and salaries, with the Leeds boss having a major say in who the club opt to sign.

Leeds had the option to take the 22yo on loan last season but refused to pay the 3m asking price!




Danny Mills has been voicing his concerns about Bielsa, that the 63yo could still walk out on Leeds if the club fail to deliver their promise on players:-

“I believe he was always happy to stay, definitely,”

“There are no issues with where he lives or the club. He really likes being at Leeds.

“What was the sticking point? From what I hear, he clearly believes he needs to add players to what’s been a thin squad hit by injuries.

“He wants one or two targets, and won’t have stayed unless the club agreed to get them.

“They would be massively important to him.

“It’s be down to transfers and budgets. Leeds should be very careful about what they do and promise Marcelo Bielsa.

“He is a man of principle. If he doesn’t get what he wants by the time the transfer window closes, he could just walk out.

“He’s done it before at other clubs.”

 

Morning all. What would be the point of making promises if you are not prepared to back them up?. Marcelo will not expect miracles but he will expect the backing promised.

 

Going to be a bit crazy for the next couple of weeks with stories etc, but all the players are on holiday except for those on International duty. Bielsa is back home and i reckon Orta has his hands full both sourcing new players and offloading at least a dozen we had out on loan.

Not sure if anyone caught my post late last night, but it seems likely that Berardi will not be back as he he may be joining Cellino at Brescia

 

Usually most of players wages for loanees is paid by parent club but 5m seems a bit sparse to me

When we signed Bielsa last season, lots of people were concerned he’d walk out if he didn’t get backed. We sold Vieira against his wishes and we did bugger all in January but he remained.

I do think he’d walk if the club failed him but I think we’re talking massive failed promises, he knows the budget, it wouldn’t be a case of promising a certain player, more a case of funds available.

True he could walk but I must admit, I’m not concerned as it’s just paper talk

For £5m we could loan two top players, that’s all we need, two loans and one permanent signing, three players and then replace any top players who want away on a like for like basis

Yep by all accounts Bielsa loves it here,and enjoying his time.Last season would have been a real wake up call/eye opener for him,and no matter how many flow charts/reports he made, none would have prepared him for the actual physical experience of playing & what's required in the championship.He won't leave, he wants to get us up,or he would have gone by now.Two or three shrewd signings will be coming to complete the Bielsa puzzle,so be prepared for a very exciting new season with not only Bielsa,but an exciting team that could tear this championship up,I for one can't wait.MOT

Interesting to read that we are again going down the loan route lets hope we improve as they have been dross I can't think of one that's been half decent
We have to forget Gayle because Newcastle want £20m so we will have to find a Pukki
Pleased that Shackleton has joined the under 20along with Pearce
Has Life found out about Westwords contract with Wed yet because he could save us a lot of money coming on a free
We need a big CB a winger a striker who can score and someone to replace Forshaw and Phillips

 

Westwood out of contract at Wednesday, think they would like him to stay, but they are in a FFP mess and we should be able to better anything they can offer.
