If we sign four or five goalscorers then fantastic, but if we lose Harrison and Jackson and then only sign one or two then we are asking for trouble.
But those two have been proven to be useless, they were useless before we got them, Christ this situation is seriously parallel to the dead parrot sketch, they can't do the job so we have to get people in who can and get rid.
They haven’t proven to be useless. They have proven to be ineffective when they play itty bitty roles in a useless team.
Harrison has shown some fantastic touches. Jackson less than impressed with. But the key reason for keeping them is numbers - we cannot afford to only bring in one or two strikers and let those two go with Sears the only other option. Even if they all stayed fit we still need to rotate and have the option to bring a sub on to change games. From there, settled into a better side at a lower level, winning games and the pressure off - we might see them perform. Signing five new strikers; even if it were an option would be fraught with problems - so to me letting them go in our current circumstances would be a mistake.
Well I don't know where or when you saw these fantastic touches but I didn't see any, but it seems Harrison is off to Portsmouth allegedly so if the deal goes through it would seem that the Club doesn't agree with you.
We’re obviously not going to sign five new strikers, the best we can hope for is that PL is able to gradually trade up the duff hand he was dealt by his predecessors(plural) and hopefully replacing Harrison with ,say Norwood, will be a step in the right direction.
I think we need to be adding, not replacing. The only other way we’ll get some success would be to give Ben Morris some game time / promote a couple of youngsters, but that’s a risky strategy.
I would rather keep Harrison than Jackson. Also, don’t think it’s that wise to sell to a team who are (potentially) a rival for promotion next season
Hit the nail on the head. Barking mad to sell him to Pompey. They have almost done enough to win the division scoring 83 goals and they think they can strengthen with our player. That should be enough of a signal that we would be making yet another critical error.
I think Sears and Harrison will be fine at League One level, provided they get back to fitness, as Sears also showed signs of adapting to whatever game-plan Lambert was attempting last season and Harrison has recent goalscoring pedigree at this level with Bristol Rovers. Kaydan Jackson should be sold, and if a Championship club are reportedly interested in him, then we should snap their hands off if we stand a chance of making a profit. If Norwood comes in, then that's an astute signing for us (not often I say get to say that). Another striker would be good - not Will Keane, who isn't reliable enough to be playing the amount of games we'll have this season - but hopefully somebody with a bit of pace and a good scoring record. And then maybe one of the younger lads, like Folami or Morris, can step up and progress via the EFL Trophy and earlier rounds of the cup competitions.
I can't imagine a scenario where we get £2m for Jackson at the moment. I think people are being too precious - we need options. We need one or two players who can get 20-30 goals but we also need understudies. We'll be in the first round of the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy. We may well see Kayden Jackson come in and make an impact in games and get some momentum going.
