    Apparently the only sticking point is Benitez. New man wants to bring Gardiola in but Ashley insisting fans have said “If Rafa goes they go”.

    I just can't see Ashley selling his cash-cow while it's still producing such great returns.
    Believe me, I would LOVE to be entirely wrong about this, but we've been at this stage of a 'sale' before and Ashley walked away from it each time.

    The only difference with this one is that it has come totally out of the blue. Here we all are sat waiting for news on the contract discussions and then this drops. I sincerely hope its true as do most of us but I think we could all be forgiven for thinking that we've been here before albeit in slightly different circumstances.

    It's certainly whipped up a bit of a frenzy, CC has had to create another 3 alter ego accounts so he can have arguments with himself. <laugh>

    Feels like the bid is probably genuine - big no-no to impersonate a member of the Royal Family in the UAE, and failing to complete a £350million aquisition having gone public would be humiliating to someone of that status. Also, huge money behind them apparently, though perhaps not quite as much as the originally advertised by The Sun. Doesn't mean it will go through though. Mike will probably cover his eyes and sing when the Sheikh tries to provide proof of funds. That way he can still claim he hasn't seen it and pull the plug.
