Just seen on another forum that Rodney Green has passed away. He played for us in 64-65 and made a hell of an impact in a short time just about the time I started to go to Priestfield regularly on my own - 17 goals in only 33 games. If I remember correctly he once got sent off for booting the ball out of the ground on purpose at the old Goldstone Ground to waste time. Lovely obituary here https://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/ne...sinessman-rodney-green-dies-aged-79-1-9468642 RIP, and thanks Rodney
Simeon Jackson on the score sheet for St. Mirren in the SPL yesterday. Can hardly believe he's only 31 so a few more years left if he looks after himself.
Cody got his first full start today for Ebbsfleet alongside Danny Kedwell and they scored three between them in their 4-2 win against Braintree. 4 years to the day they last partnered each other for Gills Kedwell scored twice, assisted once by McDonald before Cody scored in the second half. Looks like they will be able to get things going again at Ebbsfleet so good luck to them.
Only just seen that MadDog was sacked two days ago (27th Dec) by Chesterfield after they dropped into the National League relegation zone on the back of 4-0 thrashing.
I was going to say that I might start going to watch Ebbsfleet games instead of Gills -- but if I wait a year or two I could watch both !
Well - I'd have Payne instead of Parrett. We might need to get Kedwell and McDonald once Eaves goes. Weston's 'consistency' would certainly make him no worse than most in our current squad
You can also add Dean Rance to that list whose been there a few years now. Also ex Gills assistant manager Ian Hendon is the current Assistant boss at Ebbsfleet.
Saw that Scott Wagstaff scored a couple against West Ham and Mahlon Romeo played pretty well for Millwall again. Pressure's off us selling Eaves now that he's dropped to 3rd or 4th in the leading scorers list.......
Some ex Gills news in brief: John Egan will be playing in the Premier League next season with Sheffield United (congratulations John!). Following former Gills have been released from their prospective clubs: Adam Chicksen (Bradford City) Doug Loft (Shrewsbury Town) Michael Harriman (Wycombe Wanderers) Emmanuel Osadebe (Cambridge United) Joe Martin (Stevenage)
Just seen Tony Mowbray has said Bradley Dack may be sold to raise funds for new players at Blackburn this summer so hopefully we have a good sell on fee included in that deal.
Billy Bingham has signed for Conference side Bromley for this season. Best of luck to him, more than good enough for League One but he needs to stay fit. Interesting as to whether playing week in and week out on a 3G surface will affect his injuries or not.
I think that may be his level sadly as he was far too injury prone just like Morris. Has Morris actually signed for anyone or played for anyone since he left us? Does anyone know?
I read that he had been training with a Welsh team a few months ago but I have no idea whether that ever came to fruition or not.
Ex gills sub Steve Arnold has joined Northampton from Shrewsbury for a fee of £5k. https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...rnold-leaves-shrewsbury-for-northampton-town/
