Not really up to us in the modern age though. Regardless of contracts if he indicates he wants to go we're powerless really. Hopefully the local factor makes him want to stay but I wouldn't bet on it. Its Man U afterall which is still one of the worlds biggest clubs.
Still his decision though as it was with Carroll. To be honest I'd be disappointed if our fanbase didn't respect him wanting to go to a club like that. He has a duty to himself more than the club to make the best of his football career. Personally think he'd be better served here for another year but he may see it differently. His dad is of a high level sporting background so he knows how all this works. He will have a say no doubt. I think the fans need to get away from dressing this up as an evil Ashley scenario. Its always the players decision now. Ashley has been one of our better owners in this regard truth be told. He only sells at silly prices and when the player has expressed a desire to leave.
Just because it's the way things are now doesn't mean I have to accept it mate. I tolerate it , but I'll never respect what I believe is a massive wrong.
On another note it's never the end of the world it's just football. I just watched 2 men drown trying to collect a piece of drift wood. One guy swam over it looked calm on the surface, he got to the log, but instantly you could see he was having problems, he panicked, let go of the log and started drowning!! His mate jumped in swam over to try and help, but he started climbing him like a climbing frame in desperation to get a breath of air and drowned his rescuer and himself in the process, who were both sucked under to their deaths by an undercurrent... you could here their lungs fill with water before sinking... very disturbing .
Shouldn’t go to Man Utd at this stage as he needs to play and has more chance with us than at Man Utd to play in the PL.
I am assuming this was on You Tube and not in real life - and you do know if its too disturbing you can switch off.
Agree that for his development as a player he would be better off staying with us for at least another season. He will get as much game time as he can handle next year whereas that won't be the case at Man Utd. They are going to have a problem getting rid of a number of their unwanted players as nobody else is going to offer them the salaries they are on and so they will probably stay put, if they cant go out on loan. That means there will be a lot of competition for places. I hope he makes the right decision for his own career, not just for our benefit. There are too many young players move too quickly when big clubs come along, end up sitting in the reserves, then having to move on to get playing time. If he is thinking of doing it someone should just mention the name Jack Rodwell to him.
I admire Ole trying to copy the old manure blueprint of hoovering up any young talent available, I just don't see it working. Hansen should have said you win nothing with kids, unless they've played together for years. I don't see any reason for Longstaff to ruin his career going there, especially with 'Ole at the wheel' . Think we have him at least 2 more years yet.
Can see this being an obvious new contract negotiation. Has there been any body at man utd stating this link.
Its official - he is going nowhere: https://gilabola.com/inggris/newcastle-united-pertahankan-longstaff-meski-benitez-pergi/ Newcastle United Hold Longstaff Even though Benitez leaves By Didit Sukmayadi - 05/24/2019 please log in to view this image Gilabola.com - Newcastle United want to keep defending Sean Longstaff no matter what the future of Rafa Benitez is. They still believe in young players. Newcastle United want to keep Sean Longstaff apart from the future of Rafael Benitez. The Magpies are still holding talks about a new agreement with the Spanish coach they want to defend on St. James Park. But even if Benitez leaves, Newcastle are determined to keep Longstaff. The 21-year-old midfielder made his Premier League debut on Boxing Day last year and played just 12 matches before his season had to end faster because of a knee ligament injury. But that was enough to make Newcastle believe that they had very talented players in their squad with Longstaff's impressive performances in midfield making the England national team interested in using his services. And he was ready to be called upon by the England national team when he suffered a knee injury at West Ham United in March after having clashed with the Hammers midfielder Robert Snodgrass, so he had to postpone joining the national team. But that does not limit interest in young players who have been compared to Manchester United legend Michael Carrick in his playing style. Dan is an assistant to Carrick's coach who has pushed the Red Devils to bring Longstaff with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer determined to bring young talent to Old Trafford so that the club can be more competitive next season. But the Magpies are said to be ready to reject all of Manchester United's approaches to their academy graduate stars. The Red Devils are believed to be willing to pay 25 million pounds (454 billion rupiah) for Longstaff, but Newcastle have decided that they will not sell the England midfielder this summer. If he's sold thn it certainly means no take over. Have you noticed even Joselu have been sold yet despite it all being good to go? I assume this is because it'll happen just after a take over
