Good Morning Everyone Niall Huggins has penned his first professional football contract. The 18yo joins fellow scholar Theo Hudson who signed his one year contract earlier in the week. Huggins netted 12 goals in 29 matches for Mark Jackson’s side last term. The rumour doing the rounds is that Leeds are prepared to consider a swap deal to bring Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle to Elland Road at the expense of losing Jack Clarke or Kalvin Phillips. The other stumbling block is wages. Gayle is currently on £40,000 a week, but wants that increased to £55,000 upon his next move. Thoughts? Bournemouth are keeping tabs on 19yo left back Leif Davis. The youngster featured five times for Bielsa's team last term. A fee of 4m has been banded about! If true, should Leeds snap up the money and run, orwill the youngster be ready for Leeds first team come last August? If so, what happens to Douglas, Alioski, De Bock, Anita, Dallas, Pearce and Denton! Which players are surplus to requirements? What kind of impact would you expect Hernandez to make next season? It was obvious to see that the 34yo had nothing left in his tank, come the play offs. Why Bielsa did not rest out most influential player when we knew that the automatic places were beyond us, I'll never know!
Morning all.. I’m not expecting too much from Pablo next season, we desperately need a skilful number 10 to take some pressure off Pablo Dallas is an okay utility player, I’d keep Leif and Douglas, Alioski is a make shift LB he needs to play further forward in my opinion. Denton, Anita, De Bock to be moved on. Yes Gayle for Clarke but at £55k a week that’s not happening. O’Kane, Cibicki, Ekuban, Ideguchi, Grot another few surplus to requirement who need to be shifted, I’d throw Forshaw in with that group too.
Morning Elland and all. On the Gayle thing no thank you, I think he would be a load of trouble and as for paying an extra 15k a week =37.5% more he can get stuffed for me. Just a personal thing against footballer wage demands.
Morning all. Wasnt it two seasons back, Monk said Pablo was only able for one game a week then. If we get twenty good ones from him next season thatll do for me, but important as Ristac said, to have a proper replacement for the balance of games. He could also be great if used just as an impact sub, something we sadly lacked since xmas. Doubt we have any targets at all yet until official word re next seasons coach
Good morning Matt Young players We are obsessed with young players Gayle His huge salary is unsustainable in the championship Davis I doubt the Cherries are interested tbh Douglas, Alioski, De Bock, Anita, Dallas, Pearce and Denton! Three of those are not specialised left wing-backs We can do better! Hernandez We had no one to fill Pablo's boots because our squad was threadbare, was always evident a lack of quality back-up would come back to haunt us from day one
Morning all Latest reports on our kids are that Klopp and Liverpool are wanting Leif Davies and £4m mentioned as well as Bournemouth with the same offer. Clarke wanted by Spurs for over £10m. Newcastle want £15m for Gayle and that's not happening at Leeds and the only way Gayle gets £50kpw is if we get him on a free. Newcastle also trying swap deals for Clarke which involves Shelvey...... Good news for young Huggins as he signs a deal and has 12 months to show he can fit into the U23s. Obviously there is going to be changes in the U23s up front which could mean Edmondson or Kun are promoted to the first team and we also have Sam Dalby and Malik Wilks? Will Wilks be sold or loaned out again and the same can be said of Dalby. Wonder if Wilks will get a run out on the left in pre season or have Doncaster already agreed a deal for him Pablo cannot do a full season so we have to face facts that he is only going to be a bit part player/impact player from now on. Remember that he also had 2 spells out injured this season and he still ran out of gas for the run in. Love the guy as he is pure magic when he's on his game, but we missed him since Easter. Lots of things are going to happen in the next couple of weeks. Players released, Bielsa in or out, players sold? loan players coming back and how many are wanted?.....
Good morning all A player i have just seen is out of contract at the end of june is Fernando Llorente of Spurs,i know he is 34 but could be a big hit in the championship, and value for money at 3M or their abouts, in my mind a quality CF capable of netting plenty of goals, being spanish could settle in well with pablo for guidance.so could well be worth looking at,providing of course,he was willing to take a step down & play in the championship, also not a clue what wages we would be talking about as that could be a major stumbling block as well. Over all though to me this is the type of player, capable of netting twenty or so in one season and make a major contribution for promotion.
Btw Gayle a no from me,as appears to be interested in a big fat wage packet only, could possibly get the above for similar money ?
Llorente is a former Bielsa player and idolises him as does his boss Pochetino. Llorente was mentioned in the Jan window thread too as his contract was running down. Not sure he'll come to Leeds but having him on a free in this league would guarantee lots of goals
That's very interesting Doc,i didn't realise that, now i have gone from just an idea,to a possible maybe, this would be one signing i genuinely would be very excited about,if it were to happen.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a dull BARDSEY Gayle may want 55k but he clearly isn't up to PL standard so he will have to negotiate I would like him but are there ting to our skint pwneranother Pukki out there somewhere or will Edmundson now flourish Leaf I would keep even though £4m will be tempting to our skint owner Had op yesterday on my ear so hopefully that's one problem less
Hopefully interviewer willing to ask a few tough questions lots of fans want answered. And no point in him whingeing anymore about Wolves or Derby and how they conduct their business, needs to spell out our plans if he knows them. Hopefully someone will post a transcript of the important bits here or on twitter
Just heard it. Headlines. Lot of talk about Derby dodging FFP by sale of stadium to Morris. Not ethnically correct (nor was spygate) Radz not selling up and wants to stay and get promoted. In talks with Bielsa, 50-50 / 60-40 that he is staying. Hopes to make an announcement either way in the next couple of days. No questions of how much money there is or isn’t available to spend.
Why does he keep gobbing off about Derby and Wolves last season. Nobody cares and its none of his business. Leeds fans want to know whats going on at our club or likely to go on. Ant talk of transfer targets is obviously only paper talk as would be ridiculous to buy or sell anyone without the knowledge of next seasons coach
If we get our loanees right, we should only need a couple of players. Shackleton should make that position his own. We need a monster forward signing first and foremost.
