Especially as horses then eat the bags......and can die https://metro.co.uk/2017/04/21/hors...dog-poo-bags-thrown-into-their-field-6589167/
Yes, people are lazy. People also have no respect for their environment or anyone else and are so self-absorbed that they only care about themselves.
When I was at Uni I came across some very thorough research which came to a general conclusion that you propagate litter if you provide bins for it. If there were no bins, people took their litter home. This was data upto the late 1990s. We live in a different era these days. For example, if I write 'Keep Britain Tidy', how many here reading this have any note of recognition of it?
I do, I had it drilled into me at Primary School, and most of my generation would no more drop litter than defecate in the street. Sadly, and I’m sure I’ll get stick for this sweeping generalisation, it’s a young person thing.
I wrote something very similar to your sweeping statement myself, just before I deleted it and left the post you commented on. It went something like... 'this mass dropping of litter is a product of generations who, in the UK, haven't been programmed, parrot fashion, by Keep Britain Tidy campaigns and regular public information films, but have been educated on the environment as part of the school curriculum. Obviously badly'. Yeah, it went something like that. Time for a little Joe & Petunia, I think
And **** parenting. Kids don't have to grow up to be disrespectful little ****s that care about no one other than themselves, who is to blame if they do grow up that way?
At last, the UK gets its very own mid-priced EV. The Vauxhall/Opel Corsa E becomes available to order in a few weeks [update: but not available until next year... doh!] in all-electric form. Based on the Peugeot E208, because V/O are owned by PSA Group and not General Motors, as some may still think or care. I think it's cute: OK, the Tesla Model 3 appears in the UK very soon, and will blow the Corsa E out of the water, but it's nice to have another car to choose.
You could go for the E-pace too..... although maybe not “mid-priced” Isn’t the Nissan Leaf a reasonable price (or is it a hybrid)? None of contention for me at work... we push heavily out sustainability approach and green image, yet every car on our car list is a diesel and the only hybrid choice is the Toyota, yet if you are doing a large number of miles, you can’t choose that because we lease and the lease companies won’t let you as they don’t understand the value after 100,000 miles.
As you know I don't believe in capital punishment (apart from for littering ) but I can see that where it is allowed it is essential to have impartial overseers to monitor how it is carried out. However, in America they allow victims and their families to watch...and they do. Was reminded of that by a case reported today. I cannot understand why you would want to do that...this is something you can never unsee. Does this point to another major difference between the British and Americans? Would any of you choose to watch the execution of someone who hurt you or yours?
Unless circumstances demand we don't drive so don't own a car, borrow or rent as required also have https://www.greenwheels.com/nl/nl-en/private/hague. Living in the centre of The Hague it's bikes, walking or public transport. Mrs Jab is now doing a lot of cycling around clients so we're busy researching an ebike for her business use. we have folding bikes we take (for free) on the trains for our away days/weeks around Europe. Normal bikes for everyday use in the city and local countryside. Reducing car use should be on the agenda similar to plastics. Get on yer bikes! (Tebbit passim horrid person).
Jaguar "iPace". FLT. BTW, anybody who wishes to greatly reduce their impact on the environment should certainly not be looking to drive a Toyota "Self-Charging" hybrid. No plug to by-pass the engine to generate electricity means that you are little more Green than a well tuned straight FFV.
I bought a bicycle a while back so that i could cycle the 5 mile commute to work. Soon after someone broke into the shed and stole it. Haven’t replaced it since and have moved further away from work so just drive all the time now. Am starting to run in, but that’s 10 miles each way so I’m not fit enough/don’t want to destroy my body to do that all the time. Should probably use public transport more, it’ll take at least double the time but the bigger picture is more important I guess.
I looked at the I-pace when I bought my last car, but the cost is SO prohibitive, so I didn’t bother. I’ll wait a few years until “hybrid” is proper hybrid and can actually be good for the environment. No one has yet convinced me that using electricity produced by either burning carbon or nuclear fuels are any environmentally friendly. Plus the batteries are non recyclable and disposing of the stuff in them is not exactly “friendly” is it? Hopefully next time I want to change my car there’ll be better choices.
