Casilla without doubt - but it is a shame Cooper worried about kicking Casilla. He should've kicked the ball and Casilla into the middle of next week.
Dale Brown @dale_brown_ 1m1 minute ago Replying to @motcurrie @EllandBack1 @papascaife Also. Coops could and should have stood tall and shielded for Kiko to have a clear run . I haven’t got a downer on Coops I think he has been immense this season and a split second difference of timing with his kick would have seen the ball fly in to the East Stand.
Yes I am a cheeky git. Matt, Cooper has two yards on Marriott and is between him and the ball. There is no need for anyone to chase back. Berardi is a centre back in the centeback position, ayling is a full back in (for once) the full back position... the only one not in position is Dallas, but given we had 3 defenders v 2 attackers that’s considered ok in Bielsa ball. You can’t legislate for someone else’s fck up, or your whole team would never leave their own 18 yard box... like a Garry monk side.
To quote someone else : Berardi and Ayling should as soon as Bennett won the header should have sprinted back and got behind Casilla and been on the cover, they do that then imo Marriott wouldn't have scored.
If Casilla hadn't run so far out Berardi and Ayling need not have had to cover for the twat and we'd be going to Wembley
Just because someone else is talking bollox doesn’t mean you have to fella You cover and chase back when the opponents have the ball, not when your own side has two guys who are going to get there first, they should be getting in position to receive the ball. You can’t legislate for schoolboy defending. It’s really simple. Casilla fcked up, Cooper didn’t cover himself in glory.
All academic now, we just need to hope we keep the young lads coming through, hold onto the better performers (Roofe, Jansson, Phillips, Alioski, Cooper, Roberts), nurse the senior quality (Pablo), offload anyone else we're offered good money for, and look to buy a good centre back and striker as a priority. Sure there's holes in this as I'm half cut. BPF, Huffer and Miasek would do me at the back, but think we've got Casilla for the duration, and he'll probably come good anyway.
You can see Cooper hesitate for a split second thinking, what the **** is this **** doing I've got this covered, this kind of **** up by Casilla was just waiting to happen, the **** had too choose that game
It is indeed confined to history. But to show how even handed I am. Cooper should be hung drawn and quartered for the penalty, Berardi shot for the sending off... and who gave the ball away for their winner... Ayling. Probably only worthy of being pelted with rotten fruit in the stocks that one, but everyone in shot for that goal contributed to the self destruction.
It's not just that incident though, and not just that match. He always leaves too much room to one side when facing a free kick. His general positioning is terrible, as in the case of Wigan's equaliser when he was beaten at his near post. He never stands tall when faced with a one on one, laying down and making the striker's mind up for him. And there was that moment in the second half v Derby when the ball was looping towards him and he turned his back to it luckily the ball bounced up off someone's boot and he was able to gather it. I mean wtf?!!! Apart from all that he's quite a solid and reliable keeper
Cooper fkd up twice, the penalty but before that it’s basic defending, he screams at the keeper to clear due to him coming onto the ball, Cooper shields between ball and attacker, he did not .... end of, and he knows he fkd our long season up on two occasions.
It’s decision making chesh. We play a high line, and bielsa likes keeper’s who are ball players. I don’t think its easy being a keeper in this side, but he’s meant to be a top keeper used to playing this type of football... so he shouldn’t keep making a Horlicks of when to come and when not to come. But he does.
Keepers fault end of discussion. Has anyone got the stats regarding results since Peacock was dropped.
I disagree Infidel. Coopers peno was an obvious cock up, but it was the keepers fault for their first goal and he nearly ****ed up a minute or so later as well Hark back to the good old days when British/Irish keepers would take ball, defender and opposition player out
