Interestingly, we have the fewest clearances in the division. A lot of clubs have over 100 more clearances than us. Also, top assists 12!!! That is poor!!!
And yet the most assists by a Norwich player was also 12, so is it that poor. The most assists from one player in the Championship was Benrahma with 14 According to whoscored.com no Derby or WBA got into double figures for assists, Fleck got the most for Sheff Utd with 10 and Hourihane got 11 for Villa Does it also not suggest that assists were spread about the whole team, thus making us less reliant upon one player to provide all the passes that lead to goals. 6 different players provided assists for 42 of our goals this season, in order, these being Pablo, Klich, Ayling, Douglas, Alioski and Roberts. Surely that is better than having Pablo provide 30 assists and the other 5 providing 2 assists each
Problem with this is it doesn’t show negatives, shots on target 36 looks good but if there were 150 off target it’s suddenly not so great. 12 Assists looks average, not very good actually when you consider corners too but what if a better striker had put them away and those assisted might have read 50 with a better striker. Phillips on 2044 looks staggering but the method we play with small triangle passes and sideway balls it is again misleading. Interceptions on 90 sounds good but what about missed ones, lost headers, missed tackles, caught out of position. I’m not knocking or praising anyone on that list, just saying it’s a bit of a pointless misleading list they’ve invented.
There are 23 other clubs saying the exact same thing at this moment. Difference is, some will go the extra mile and loan some quality, will we? Can orta even spot them
If you go on per 90 minutes played, Roofe had a total of 86 shots, so approx 41% of those were on target and scored with 17% of his shots Bamford had a total of 48 shots per 90 minutes played ( no idea how many were on target sorry) and scored with 19% of his shots. Given that Gayle has been mentioned in other threads he scored with 30% of his total shots per 90 minutes played, and top goalscorer in the league, Pukki, scored with 20% of his shots per 90 minutes played. Abraham scored with 23% of his total shots and Sharp scored with 36% of his total shots, and McBurnie scored with 29% of his shots. Basically Sharp, Gayle and McBurnie were the guys you wanted in your team to score you goals
Absolutely no doubt in my mind it was Casilla. Even if he had shouted that he was going to clear, he'd have been too late getting there anyway. If he'd left Cooper to it, it would have been a corner. No question.
WJ, Berardi was virtually in the left back slot. Any more left, and Ayling would have been off the pitch... Both Berardi and Ayling had time to sprint and cover the goal mouth imo
Just so I’m clear Matt, you think their goal was ayling and berardi’s fault? And you don’t know your left from your right
Seriously, there’s an argument cooper hesitated, but our none-English-speaking keeper obviously didn’t call, started to come, stopped, came again and nearly decapitated him. He then fell over for the second goal and dived too early and too low for the winner to make marriot’s mind up for him. What a fcking upgrade he turned out to be.
Cheeky git. I'm saying that they didn't help things. Berardi was well out of position and could have easily tried to block Marriott
I have mostly blocked the whole game out, and can't even bear to watch a single cock-up goal nearly a week later without getting seriously annoyed all over again. Even though I'm still not sure I'd prefer a year watching us getting humped every week in the Premiership to the excitement of another season like the last in the Championship. When does the new season start Doctor?
Dale Brown @dale_brown_ 2m2 minutes ago Replying to @2REPmac @EllandBack1 Coops has to kick across the line of the ball when it’s travelling away from him - risky and he failed - Kiko meets it straight on with ball Moving towards him. Basic coaching knowledge, player with ball coming to him deals with it if he can.
