    Morning

    2.00 Ripon-Abadie @ 11-8 [Skybet]

Would not be surprised if this newcomer is a Royal Ascot 2 year old

    Bandsman and istimraar double

Then in the lucky last at Market Rasen I’ve backed Crakehall Lad and Chasing Headlights EW.

Crakehall Lad ran ok last time out, is down further in the weights and the race is awful. Chasing Headlights is reasonably consistent at awful level and thought he was too big.

Backed both last night and market seems to be more positive than negative about both today.

    16:45 Stratford - Flying Verse

(Good chance in this weak-looking event. Being by Yeats, should stay the distance well enough. Took the 3/1 generally on offer at the moment.)

    stratford,2 25:

hes the outsider of the three here, but i can see FULL TIME PARTY go very well today.ran a promising race on his debut in a bumper last year, and the winner and the third that day have gone on to uphold the form.disappointed on his next start, but he was well fancied that day,and maybe this longer trip could unlock some improvement..not underrated.

Stunning win from Misty Grey in the 2.00 Ripon. There was nothing in his debut 3rd to suggest he could go out there and win 7 lengths today. Maybe he is the one bound for Royal Ascot.

The betting told the story with Abadie, they could not give him away in the betting. Drifted right out from 11/8 to 9/2 it suggested the punters knew and the colt finished stone last. On the evidence today he could be renamed A Baddie.

Over at Naas Pisteletto had been talked about as a Royal Ascot colt but despite going off 1/5 Fav he had to work very hard to win by a half length and a neck in a finish that surely gave backers palpitations.

Later on the card (3.50) Peace Charter and So Wonderful lock horns again after finishing 1-2 last time out. The Weld filly Peace Charter wore the O'Brien daughter of War Front down in the closing stages that day and I have seen a few tipsters saying that they fancy Peace Charter to come out on top again today, with one preview stating that there is absolutely no reason that the placings should be changed today. I watched that previous race and felt that the O'Brien filly was more likely to improve a lot from that race. She has a fair bit of substance to her and it's unlikely she would be fully tuned up first time out. I expect her to reverse the form today but the betting is agreeing that she looks the one and she's a shade of odds-on. No bet today then but I did have a look to see if there were any big odds for the Albany for some interest but there are only two fillies in the betting for that Royal Ascot contest and they are joint favs at 7/1. Just a race to watch today then but I hope So Wonderful can show marked improvement today and be tough to catch.

It just shows that when the odds are wrong you don't play. It was hardier souls than me who went in at odds-on on So Wonderful, suicidal really at this stage in a maiden's career. So Wonderful went back from her first run if anything and ran a lifeless race really. In the end her old sparring partner Peace Charter couldn't do it either and Aidan's supposed second string Etoile (Yet another War Front in the field) lived up to her French name and was the star. Poor run from So Wonderful and the odds were silly really.
