I know someone who took Faragipan - didn't end well - he's still wandering around looking for a forum that won't ban him
this is pretty sad, some of these guys spent 25 years building their exhibits. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-48326572
No Eurovision posts? Surely someone here must have watched it? What did y'all think? My favourites were Norway and Iceland. Norway's song was very entertaining (especially with that deep voiced bald dude singing in Norwegian) and Iceland's was a surprisingly good song (despite not being my usual cup of tea) but the costumes were great. And Australia had great staging, the song wasn't too bad either. it was just essentially Kate Bush on a pole, what's not to like? Netherlands were okay. The UK were terrible as usual (I still think we would have placed higher if the song I wanted got chosen which is below) Norway: Iceland: Australia: However, I do have a bone to pick with the format. While I like the split of the judges and public vote now, it does make the voting way more exciting, but it does highlight the disproportional power of the judges. Norway won the public vote, but finished 5th because they didn't do so well in the judges vote. That's pretty crazy when you think about it. 6 people in 51 countries stopped a song winning which tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands? Millions?) of people across Europe voted for. I don't want to get rid of the judges, I just want to change the weighting, so two thirds of the total points come from the public vote, rather than just half. However, I am happy the UK public vote top's 3 were Norway, Australia and Iceland. The UK public clearly has good taste!
Oh yeah, I should have checked there. Edit: Oh i see no-one posted about it there... In which case, let's gush over Eurovision in this thread!
I’ll put you out of your misery Laps, I watched it and I liked Norway as well. The bald guy was singing in Saami, not Norwegian, which is the language of the people formerly known as Lapps, so you should have understood it! I agree about the voting, and what I don’t understand is why the juries vote on the Friday evening, which might explain the disparity between their scores and the polls bloc, who obviously take the quality of the live performance into account as well as the song. They have to sort it out as it’s embarrassingly poor. And Madonna was just spine-numbingly awful.
