It would help if we didn't always start with an inferiority complex against this lot. Leicester, Palace and Newcastle have all beaten them this year by attacking them.
Gracia has to take a lot of the responsibility here for helping to dish up the most one sided final in living memory. The lack of ambition today has been absolutely apalling.
I think that is a bit unfair cologne. What we witnessed was a City team that can score goals for fun against any team in England, and they were in the mood to do so. 169 goals they have scored in a season. Our team surely is still a work in process, which needs further players who are of a better standard.
Bit of both probably. Certain players had shall we say disappointing games. By the law of statistical progression we will lose the next final we reach 18-0.
Sorry Frenchie but I don't think my comments were at all unfair. Teams that have beaten City, like Leicester, Newcastle, Palace, Lyon and nearly Newport have gone for them. You cannot get anything from City if you let them have the ball and try to contain them - every time we go up against them we may as well just lie down and say 'please don't hurt us too much'. You cannot go into a cup final with this type of inferiority complex against anyone. I'm sorry to sound so negative but the fans have waited for 35 years for this, and I would have expected to have seen some pride, some passion, and some balls shown. To think that we gave up all hope of seventh place for this rubbish.
City have the biggest squad in the PL. They have players that get very few games that would get into our team every week. How would you compare them bringing on Sané compared with us bringing on Success or De Bruyne compared with Cleverley? We complain here often enough about the "big six" which if this season is to go by will turn into the "big two". My suspicion is, never to be proved of course, that it might have been closer if the chance we had after 10 minutes had gone in. Our players are not in the same class to be honest, and you can build a team around those available, and the style of play, or go for a style that doesn't always suit the players. GT knew what he wanted, look back and you see the style, but we are still finding players that fit after a year of the current manager.
Sorry if my comments came over the wrong way Frenchie, but other teams have run City much closer with squads no better than ours. Of course our players are not in the same class but that can partly be compensated for if you have the right attitude going onto the pitch, which we didn't. I know that City have a history of about 6 years of consistently outspending the rest of the league, and of stretching one financial rule after the other to the limit (and over it if EUFA are to be believed) - which will, of course, ultimately, show on the pitch.
Just picked myself up...gutted is an understatement!! It honestly feels like I have just taken one in the meat and two veg. From a Holebas free kick!! Today was tough to take, but we are a team on the up. We will surely build again next year, and another rollercoaster of a Season dawns. One thing that I truly feel is that days like today make you stronger and those better days all the sweeter!! Amazing support today, not sure if it showed it on the TV, but the Watford fans in the last 10mins or so just did not stop singing and waving their flags - awesome!!! Proud to be a horn even if I am a little battered and bruised You ‘orns!!!! PS I would much rather be a team that competes due to desire and team spirit rather than one that wins because they have a bigger cheque book and sign players in order to stop others signing them!! How long before the Sheikh’s get bored?
Today was a mis-match and Watford were on the wrong end of a thumping. Replace “Watford” with any other team outside the top six and the result would have been the same. Having said that, Man City beat Chelsea 6-0 earlier in the season. It’s not good for football
Oh well at Kings Cross Station.. Waiting for the ten pm train to Leeds. Pretty shell shocked really.. It was as if they had an extra player or we were a defender short.. The one redeeming factor for us all was the behaviour of the Watford fans.. When we were really losing it.. Everyone rallied in appreciation of the club and the team.. Very very moving. Tactically, our players weren't good enough... We had half a dozen chances and blew them.. And they just went up our end and scored.. I really feel for our players.... A man City supporter has just said to us it wasn't a six nil game we weren't a bad team.. However you have to take every chance at this level... Onward and upwards.. Summer comes now and roll on next season. When we will all be saying: Come on you Horns.... [emoji106] Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Oh dear - credit to the fans of course who were excellent but that turned out to be a nightmare! Things MIGHT have been different had Pereyra scored early on or Doucouré been not been booked which tempered his game. We seemed to give them too much time and space plus some of the goals were from us giving the ball away cheaply. Felt we maybe gave up a bit after the 3rd and 4th goal too.. Not ideal against a team in such form! Deeney and the scouting guy were having a good chat after the game - maybe Troy was saying this proves we need to spend money on defenders. Great cup run and atmosphere but naturally a bit flat after the results. 2 unwanted records now....
Sorry to say I find this attitude disappointing verging on disgraceful-worthy of some of the Wobby ‘s worst contributors. We could have stayed defensive after the first 2, lost 2-0. We gave it our best shot ,always knowing what might happen. I think the team tried really hard, but they did look Tired. The Arsenal West Ham games had a significant impact on the tiredness levels. Anyway, look at all the times we have played Citeh. Do your comments apply to every time we have lost to them in the last 5 years?
