"Noscruples" is my middle name. If other clubs have done it, it is only fair that we should. Shame we didn't think of it first. Why not sell season tickets to "people" for 10 million a seat?
The principle behind FFP is admirable. Whereas the people who are asked to implement it are imbeciles. It’s totally ridiculous that rich owners can’t bail clubs to within the FFP rules as long as stupid loopholes aren’t great chasms (which is also their fault for not highlighting the spirit of “fair play” in Financial Fair Play). If an owner wants to throw away his money at his stupid losses then let him, as long as he doesn’t leave the club with unmanageable debt should he walk away. That protects the club, it’s employees and the fans of that club and retains it to being at least some way an attractive punt to a buyer/investor.
Why can't the owners sponsor players shirts, shorts, socks and boots? Say for 1 million for each and they can have their name in the program. Used to be done, although it was for about £50 I think.
Didn't Man City use the ground naming trick where their owners "paid" some ridiculous amount, £400m comes to mind as a way of generating additional income to avoid huge losses.......
I haven't seen the details but I'm guessing this may just be kicking a problem down the road for these clubs. Future rental payments are likely to be much more than any depreciation charge they currently incur.
In the Times today they published a list of all 92 PL and EFL clubs in order of net profit/loss 2017-18. The 20 PL clubs had a net surplus of £304m, the 72 EFL teams a net deficit of £388m. QPR (loss of £38m) at 90th in the table, propped up by Fulham (loss £45m) and Wolves (loss £57m). This doesn’t look like a sustainable sport, and we certainly don’t look like a sustainable club.
How many of the 20 Prem boys actually made profit, Stan? I wouldn’t mind betting fewer than half? Looks like we’re going to have to sell Lynch to put us back in surplus!
Not sure that's right as we "only" made a loss of £23m in last financial year whereas Wolves lost £57m, Villa £54m, Fulham £44m, Cardiff £40m, Brum £39m, Reading £39m, Bristol City £24m.........all more than us, plus Sheff Wed still not filed their accounts that were due a month ago, must have a lot to hide seeing as their owner said they had hugely breached FFP levels.........

Thanks. So, 12 of the 20 PL teams made profits, although nos. 91 and 92 in the list were promoted to the PL in that year. How can any of us have faith in any of this that ‘manage’ QPR’s affairs?
I see a loss of 38 m quoted other places too. Is the 23 m the FFP loss, where the FFP fine and I guess other items are excluded?
Stonking result by Exeter City... must've been down to the sale of that 'superstar and thought leader of the future' David Wheeler.
