Basically a quarter of what we got this season. We're fast approaching the financial status of a League One club and certainly in the bottom six of the Championship, we'll need some seriously good scouting and recruitment this summer to punch above our weight...
Here are three charts that show last season's income, wages and losses in the championship. There are six clubs yet to still report their results ... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
The fact that almost every club is ****ed might save us, a few decades of Championship low-mid table awaits. Yay.
I have read that Fulham who spent massively once they had promotion - some of their players had performances bonuses written into their contracts and that these are not classed as "wages" and therefore should not be classed as moneys against their income. Not too sure whether this is a way to avoid a fine - whether it is legal but I have a feeling that this could be an interesting story to unfold in next few weeks.
Derby have pulled a fast one.......apparently made a "profit" of £14m but only because they sold their ground to a company owned by their owner Mel Morris for £80m......if they hadn't done that they would have made a loss of £66m which would have put them way beyond FFP limits......... Something stinks in this but no doubt the EFL will waive it through as okay!!!!!
So if Air Asia had bought Loftus Road for £60 million we'd have dodged the fine and embargo. What a load of bollox...
A new trend is to sell the stadium to cook the books. Leaving the clubs at risk. https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sp...-news/derby-county-report-146m-profit-2711655
Rather than starting a new thread I thought I'd post this here...... The amounts of monies paid in transfers in the EPL and the amount of money being sucked out of the game by way of payments to Agents is eye watering...... The Current bottom 3 Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff spent > £190,000,000.00 yes that is £190m on transfers during 2018/19 and in total > £260m was paid to Agents in the division....... The World's gone nuts....... Premier League clubs have paid out more than £260m to football agents during 2018-1P9 - an increase of £49m on the previous 12 months. Liverpool were the highest spending club in the top flight, paying £43m to agents between 1 February 2018 and 31 January 2019. Chelsea (£26m) and Manchester City (£24m) were the next biggest spenders. Read the rest here https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47817930
Good for Steve Gibson the Middlesbrough Chairman, he's calling the EFL to account re Derby's manipulation and the conduct of Villa and Sheffield Wednesday re FFP.... Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson is demanding an English Football League investigation into the financial conduct of three Championship rivals. Gibson wants the EFL to scrutinise Derby County, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday over what he believes to be breaches of financial regulations, in a move which could trigger a bitter dispute between the clubs. The 61-year-old is insisting the three clubs are attempting to bypass the new profitability and sustainability rules by unfair means, and he has arranged a special meeting of all Championship clubs for a week on Wednesday. Gibson is understood to be “furious” that Middlesbrough have sold over £40 million worth of players, including Adama Traore, Ben Gibson and Patrick Bamford, to balance the books, while in his view other clubs are manipulating the rules by allocating some costs to stay in line. Must admit that I'm a tad surprised that no other news organisation has picked up on the Derby senanagins with the "sale" and leaseback of the stadium to avoid huge losses, but I just found this piece from a few weeks ago about Blackburn, Bolton and Birmingham. Although a lot of the piece was already known about in relation to Birmingham the losses that Blackburn have racked up are eye watering, operating losses of €153m in 8 years including a loss of £17.5m from their promotion season from League 1 last year, the largest loss ever recorded by a League 1 side....... https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47691385
It looks like Sheff Weds have done the same thing ( sell their ground to the owner and then lease it back ) as Derby as they are late publishing their accounts. Probably due to some financial engineering as they try to disguise what they've done. Villa are rumoured to be going to do the same if they fail to get promoted. https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...-wednesday-reportedly-sell-hillsborough-53089
