... and none of Roy Keane's side would have got in Joe Royle's side... and not many of Joe Royle's side would have got into George Burley's side. I actually think there is one exception - Luke Woolfenden. Has the potential to be at a top club.
According to reports, Bart set to go (with three Championship sides supposedly interested) and Gerken likely to be moved off the wage bill. This would mean we need to add a goalkeeper to the growing list of required incomings. We’ve reportedly all but wrapped up the Norwood free transfer, even if he does end up firing Tranmere to League One via the play-offs. Although this season has proved that we should be wary of signing lower league players and expecting them to adapt to a division or two above their previous level, I’m quietly confident Norwood can make the step up from League Two to One and deliver the goals. Even if he can get half of the 32 he currently has for Tranmere, then he’d be a good free signing.
Gut wrenching to watch Jack Marriott fire Derby to Wembley and Lampard, who we interviewed last summer, celebrating on the touchline like he’s won the Cup.
No but had we had a little ambition we could have been getting out of the league in the other direction. Instead we will be losing more money than the outlay he would have demanded. This news about Bart... and the comments the other day about players wanting to move on.. we are disappearing into the abyss.
Norwood is exactly the type of signing we should have made last season, not average league one players
Everyone is creaming their pants over wolfy...what has he done to get such high praise? Played a couple of friendlies?..he's got potential, but so did a lot of our kids. And as for Norwood, will be an ok player in L1. Has only played in the national league and L2, admittedly scored for fun. But at 28, will he improve much? Might be the player to score the goals this season, but beyond that, wont take us forward. If we're planning for the future, I'd prefer slightly younger players who can improve and be with us for a few years to get us back challenging for the play offs in the championship... But, hopefully I'm proved wrong and he smashes it
Woolfy is great at reading the game, good with his feet. He is commanding and composed, more than players twice his age. When you have a player that good they can change the whole rhythm of your side and dictate the play. He doesn’t need to have played 20 games to be able to see it, you either have it or you don’t and he has it.
Yorkie...based on what? 53 minutes of first team action for us, and was in a mid table L2 side who had the 11th best defence. Absolutely he has potential, but still has a long long way to go to be regarded as a regular first teamer.
I'm glad you said It Spanish because from what I've seen of Judge I really don't understand what the excitement is about, some have said that he could easily play at a higher level, I think that's doubtful or a higher positioned Club would have come in for him. As far as Edwards goes he might be more effective in a lower league but lets face it that wouldn't take much doing, has some skill but inconsistent and largely ineffective at Championship level so he must step up next season, I wouldn't be that concerned if he left.
I've seen quite a lot of Woolfy before he was in the side going back to the age of 11 or 12 and he played twice for us last year too keeping clean sheets and winning both times although I did not see the Luton game, but yep that 53 minutes or whatever it was against Blackburn really were epic and cemented what I already knew.
No, not at all - he has been on my radar all that time through a coach. In 30-odd years of watching young lads come through into the first team, the ones who really make a name for themselves stand out a mile from the other kids way before they get anywhere near a first team shirt. He has got it all to do still but all the signs of a top player are there.
Hahaha, Wolfy is nothing special from the little bits I have seen. The lad we let go to Pompey, Matt Clarke, was far better imo and a big mistake! The one Town player I think could be a little star is Jack Lankester, all depends how he comes back from his injury but I really like the look of him!
Yeah just like the little we saw of Hourihane and Marriott and Rhodes and the rest of them. Woolfy is the most talented player we’ve had the club since Giovani Dos Santos. Lankester is decent too but a bit of a lightweight, he needs to toughen up a bit.
They will all need to toughen up next season, lousy pitches, lousy stadiums, and hard nuts who will kick anything that moves.
