If we were in the final I'd 100% support. But given that we ARE out, then offering a place in the final now would not be attractive. Even ignoring the CL preparation part, would you really want to be in a final just for the sake of a trophy even if there was no story behind it? So IMO it's BS to now say "oh we finished 2nd the season was completely worthless and unenjoyable we might as well had a FA Cup while watching our team draw 0-0 with #nomarks every other week". You want to trade the story of this season and all the experiences and progress just so we could play Watford at Wembley?
Remember football is not only about points and progress. It is about the glory, the triumphs, the visceral joy of watching us lifting a cup. It is about the day at Wembley (yes I can see the ridicule coming about it being devalued too the semis there) . But I know there is a hierarchy of importance. We would have to agree to disagree. Winning the FA cup (or even league cup) would have been great. It is interesting that some are dissing these trophies yet we haven't even won one for ages. And if we don't win anything will history record this period as the glorious chase of City but ultimately fruitless? Glory?
We're talking about alternate timelines. In the timeline where we remained in the FA Cup I 100% support us winning it. In the timeline where loads of teams are disqualified from the FA Cup because they broke the rules and the FA asks us if we want to play the final next week then I'm not bothered either way and will let Klopp decide what's best.
No one is arguing that the run has been exceptional and probably will not be repeated in our lifetime. insane is the right word. That is why it is really sickening that there is nothing to show for it.
Everything else being equal, would I swap our 97 points for an FA cup and trailing City by a dozen points or more? No.

For me, football is about being entertained. If we can win something in the process then great but I'm not hung up about it do long as we're in the mix. For players, they want to win silverware.
Who said that it's the hope that kills you in the end. The pain is still raw but the joy should come in the next couple of weeks
