Like I said before, Ralph is being backed big. It is the only reason he decided to join us after turning us down. We went back to him and asked him what he wanted. If Saints don't back him like they said Ralph will walk
This isn't a f*cking piece of evidence. This is a person. He's a transfer target of ours, and you're not going to bury him in the f*cking garden!
The article indicating his long term position will be a left sided centre back puts him very much on our wanted list
Adding another second rate finisher won’t really help will it, especially if we burn £30m in doing so
And there’s the rub.... it’s a big “if”.... I actually quite like him and when fit, he’s shown his skill. The trouble is, we can’t afford to carry a player who plays 1 in 4 and is the top scorer with 6 goals... not for £20 million....
And Gallagher & Corillio Assume Gabbi’s move is still on? Sell five strikers to leave us with two (Ings and Obafemi) means we could bring in a couple. Rather have the Brummie and Hull lad than Mitrovic
We buy another striker who is capable of scoring regularly and it takes a lot of pressure off Ings. We could rest him a lot more and in theory reduce his injuries.
In our brilliant, fabulous, massively overachieving, wonderful season when we finished 6th, how many Premier League goals did our top scorer get?
Thanks Tom (I knew ) The very same total that was derided earlier in the thread. It is very rare to have a scorer of 20 ish goals in the premier league outside of the top 6. Not impossible but rare. In fact we have one of those at our club now.
I thought I would back up your view. it also backs up my view that signing a 10 goal a season striker would take the pressure off Ings. Saints aren't going to sign 20 goal strikers unless we're extremely fortunate. So sign multiple 10 goal a season strikers. Ings would have scored 10 if he hadn't got injured so much, Redmond would have scored 10+ if Ralph had been in charge all season and I'd be stunned if we didn't sign a striker in the summer. If we can find another gem from our black box then we're in for an exciting 2019/20 season.
Indeed. 3 players getting to double figures is more than enough - that is what we had in our fantastic 6th place season - Mane, Pelle and Long. Ings, Redmond and new signing could well replicate that. Good times ahead, providing Ralph is backed.
I think the biggest improvement is our midfield scoring goals, sharing out the distribution and having midfielders scoring regularly was something we had been lacking for ages.
