Yet again I feel this one got away. First half we were so, so negative with the play stopping to a crawl as soon as we reached 25 mtrs from their goal. Then it was all sideways, backwards, always looking for someone in a better position, everyone seemingly afraid to have a go. RLC and Kante tried to run at them but were not backed up and so ran into a swarm of defenders. Willian and Pedro put in, but couldn't penetrate.
When we did step it up we looked good, though Giroud has a poor game and was too often back to goal and then on his arse, often marginal tackles by Frankfurt were let go.
It was RLC and his non stop running that made the goal and then we seemed to come alive.
Second half we bossed for all but 10 minutes, but our set up and style of play always leave me feeling this team could be heaps better if only our midfield was better sorted, and our defenders were allowed more freedom to start attacks by running rather than Luizs' long passing game.
1-1 probably flatters Frankfurt a tad, but we need to be more positive and ruthless at home next week.

only caught tail end of first half and 2nd half.

Thought jorginho had a good game. RLC was decent if a little wasteful (but making things happen) and giroud was pretty poor.

I was surprised by how lax this ref was because it was a really physical game, probably more physical than your standard EPL fair. Pedro scored a great goal but i can't help but think he's recently been really really greedy, always cutting in and shooting compared to how he used to play.

Christensen looks really shakey but i did enjoy some of his passing. Onwards to Watford, 1-1 is a decent result and we should win it back at home

What struck me tonight was the inability of our full backs to deliver a decent cross when we needed one. Time and time again they hit the first defender or made it easy for their keeper. I suppose its a pay off for not using wingers like they should be relying on the people that should be defending when they get caught upfield, and then we get hit on the break. looked like the same old same old from Sarri to me, and whoever thought Jorginho had a good game must be missing a few brain cells.

Spanish ref too, they usually overreact and wave yellow cards all over the shop. There was a lot of edgy marginal stuff, especially from the Frankfurt team 2nd half. All our players were better 2nd half, but seriously Jorghino was his usual hopeless self all 1st half. Maybe he needs a smack in the head every game to get him going ?

First half was terrible and classic Sarriball Fail. We also took some pretty ordinary corners, not just crosses ,and as you say looked exactly same old same old.
There seems to be a complete lack of optimism, drive, creativity, call it what you may about this team. Sarri's still banging on about "mental attitude", Jesus wept that's his job and he's failed to change it all season.
I think pretty much all the team hates the way they are being made to play, and go into matches already convinced it's going to be harder than it needs to be. Add that to being unimpressed with Jorghino getting selected despite a terrible season, bugger all goals, no assists and a feeble failure in the PL then add Higuain regularly selected over Giroud, then there's a resentful, unhappy team, but too professional to complain publicly.
I'm back to the Sarri Out position as I dread to think what he will **** up with no new signings, and Hazard and possibly CHO on their bikes.
Nevertheless, despite Sarri we carry on, and Watford is just another obstacle we need to overcome

Decent result. To get a 1-1 away from home in a European semi is not to be sniffed at. Especially given our slow start.

I expect us to get through now. As should Arsenal to set up an all London final in Baku!

I thought Jorginho played ok, much more positive throughout.

Agree with the above, our full backs can’t cross. We’re desperate for two new ones, Emerson is the best of a bad bunch.

Rest of the team played alright besides Giroud who was shocking and Christensen who looked nervous as soon as the whistle went. They were shattered from about 60 minutes so whilst 1-1 away is good I’m amazed we didn’t do more to win the game.

Loftus Cheek was head and shoulders above anybody else on the pitch and it’s staggering it’s taken us so long to notice how good he is.

I think RLC has finally found a position that really suits him as I was never convinced with him as a 10 or in a wide role. He looks a lot better as an advanced mid in a 3. His power and directness is refreshing in this side. Hopefully he takes this chance to stake a claim for a full time starting berth.

On attitude alone he should be starting every time he's fit. He links well with Hazard and knows where the goal is.
I see Barca are supposedly preparing a 30 mill offer for Willian. I'd throw in Alonso, Zappacosta, Higuain and Kovacic for that price and take another 50 quid for Jorghino !!!!!!!!!

Willian’s sell-by date is fast approaching.

Agree. I think when they wanted him at the start of the season I said we should try to keep him. Not quite sure that was the right decision, hasn’t contributed enough at all.

30m is a good offer if he’s 30 and In his last year but I’m not sure we’ll take it if Hazard leaves.

He was past his sell by date last year too. I said we should have snapped off barcas hands for 50m or whatever it was (and imagine how many more games hudson would have got). We would be lucky yo get anywhere close to that give his age.

He could be a very good player but we dont play with enough width already and having him as of our wingers really doesnt help us

Willian probably depends on Hazard and the transfer ban. Willian normally seems to play better when Hazard doesn't play. If Hazard goes and possibly CHO, are we going to let Willian go as well and be left with only Pedro and Pulisic?

Too many variables to consider before the seasons end.

Blimey, we tried hard not to win the second leg. All the old faults returned, too slow, too static, too much reliance on Hazard, midfield overpowered, sloppy defending ( with a couple of incredible "make goods 2nd half". Giroud was utterly awful, Hazard largely ineffective ,but made the goal for RLC, and so it went on.
Sarri was at his baffling, frustrating best, taking off our best player for the bloody awful brick with eyes, who was bloody awful for the rest of the game. Christensen could have been replaced by Cahill, but no, let's disrupt the entire backline, move Dave and run Zappacosta up and down the sideline to put in crosses straight into the ankles of any of the 3 defenders between him and the Chelsea player it was meant for.
Thanks to Kepas outstanding form all game, we limped through, so Sarris' CV looks better than he deserves.
Two games to go, one trophy possible, miracles never end.

Another final though, we do seem to have a nack for getting to them one way or another.

Hazard's pen felt a little Drogba esque in that it'll likely be his last kick at Stamford bridge so fitting it was such an important and class one.

We were absolulely dreadful in the second half. Felt sorry for Frankfurt fans, they took over the Bridge like no other fans have done since Gala 1999.

on another note, how harsh was the dave disallowed goal? Keeper just dropped it under the most tiny contact. Clearly should have stood IMO. Ref absolutely bottled it and was close to the incident .
