http://www.safc.com/news/20110912/quinn-speaks-on-gyan_2256213_2448550 Official from the man himself - no more "Deafening Silence"
http://www.safc.com/news/20110912/quinn-speaks-on-gyan_2256213_2448550 Seems all pretty fair enough and with this reported 6m we are getting for him leaving aswell as Al-Ain paying his 2m a year wages its a good deal for the club BUT now with the departure of Gyan we need to get our scouts out there for the January transfer window if not next summer at the latest and we need 2 YES 2 top qulity strikers to add to what we already have
This statement is being discussed on SSN now I am happy to hear the facts of the matter from someone who actually was there when it all happened. I am also glad the deafening silence has ended and we now know why with the medical and formalities just completed today. I can't really see Gyan coming back here, however he willl soon realise how invisible he is playing in that league and who knows. Interesting that Gyan has agreed to make a 'sizeable' donation to SAFC Foundation while he is away. I wonder what percentage of his new wages this donation is?
I think everyone could see that there was something not quite right with Gyan in the opening games of the season, but it's a sad state of affairs that contracts seem to count for diddly squat in premier league football these days...
Well that is an interesting read. Talk about tapping up, turning up at the AOL almost what sounds like unannounced. I think its fair to say his head had been turned and Quinn got us the best deal he could under the circumstances. I just hope this means investment in a top class replacement in January.
He will never be welcome back in my eyes. But good on St. Niall, I knew he would come out and explain.
Pretty much confirms what I thought had happened, and put in a thread yesterday. The donation to the SAFC foundation is good thing, but cant be used by Gyan for thinking that it makes eveything ok. He will have very very hard work to do if he wants to return. Hopefully now we (fans, club and players) can move on and concentrate on the upcoming games.
If the player didn't want to be here then let him go. $200,000 dollars a week they are paying him, so it's clearly for financial reasons. In all honesty, £6 Million pounds for a year loan deal is decent compensation for a player not wanting to be here. That's on top of the £2 Million saving in wages for the next year. £8 Million extra available in January for our disposal. Let's just hope Bentdner does the business and doesn't get injured!
this, plus gyan has been utter ****e this season, we may as well have played with 10 men in the games he played in all honesty
Ah to have a chairman like this. Instead we have Derek! To be honest its that bit of class that he brings to everything he touches I like. He is just brutally up front about things, none of this trying to pass the buck. "I took the decision........" I admire that in people. Basically he says I've made this decision and I'm 100% correct. If you want to call me on it feel free. I'm sure he'd answer each and every letter sent to him if fans did decide to call him on it. Putting all loyalties aside I think Gyan is the lowest of the low. Selling his soul for money, nothing else. He's your typical modern football whore and has shown a complete lack of respect for Sunderland. He can give all the money he wants to the SAFC foundation, he'll always be a **** in my eyes. I suppose nothing should surprise us anymore with regard to football but I cannot understand these guys who go to these places for the money. Its not like they're badly paid!!
A very strong statement from the big man. Should have confirmed the £6million mind, if we were just short of the Cisse money, maybe this will be a major blessing, get Cisse in January, then swap greedy **** for Gignac seasons end. If Marseille would be interested in the hapless **** after this like.
Got to agree class act as a Chairman (nice to hear coming from a Mag) Maybe this will stop those Numpties calling for Niall's head (doubt it though)
**** it mate, let's get positive! After Benno saying we had a 'world class striker all done then pulled the plug....', let's finish the deal, maybe we pulled the plug because Gyan remained, would be sense in it. Gignac, Cisse, Bendtner, Ji (who deserves a ****ing start this weekend BTW!) and Whickham. Tasty.
Yeah it will be I would love for him to do it and return a stronger player it can be done Henrik Larrson did it at Celtic.
Yeah, Djib did it twice from massive leg breaks as well. He was becoming a real favourite when it happened, we all wish him the best.
