I thought so too, I'll watch his progress with interest. Though sometimes players just don't realise their early potential. Anthony Gerrard who was excellent for us that season-long loan, I thought he would go onto better things, but he never really made it and I see he has just been released by Carlisle.

In the reserve game against Forest when Milinkovic got sent off, Curry was getting constantly rinsed by a nippy forward. I sense they think he’s too slow.

Most free transfers are out of our hands as they would want wages, the greedy buggers them.

How? In what does it vindicate the Allams decision? He's played in 34 games - that's over 90% of matches!!!

    Possibly, although:

    1. I’d surmise Campbell is a far more valuable player to us, than Moses is to Brentford - meaning Campbell’s departure is far more costly for us to equate the two situations.

    2. Campbell, if he leaves, will probably find a club in a better position/size than the free-agent Moses will do

    3. Brentford could probably (can’t say for sure) afford Moses’ wages within their structure. We seemingly can’t afford Campbell’s current terms under our new (or newer) wage structure.

Fairly simple reasoning, but here goes:

Firstly, perhaps 'vindicates in many ways' was too simplistic and strong, perhaps something like ‘adds evidence to their decision’ would have been better from me.

But, what we can seemingly see, one season on, is that a middle-ranking club has had him, played him regularly and seen him close-hand for a season. Then, at time of renewal (a club option I understand) decided not to keep him when they had the executive to do so. Additionally, a club that he also has history at and the fans ‘seem’ to be supportive of him.

It would therefore seem that a contract extension would be an easy thing to do to.

However, they decide to release him. Probably deciding that he wasn’t good enough for the money he commanded, or they have someone better lined up to come in, or maybe he’s a bit of a prick and caused problems around the place – I dunno.

But, releasing someone usually is a sign that they aren’t somehow worth it, one way or another.

He’ll end up at a club lower down the trough.

I would be shocked if he isn't back in the Championship next year given he has just played 34 games and won't command a transfer fee.

    Agreed.

I've been reading the Brentford board, there's an assumption there that he was signed on very poor terms for year (while he proved himself fit again) and now he has and would expect to be back on full money, they've decided against it.

If that is true, then he's either completely pricing himself out (at a club/level he knows well) or they don't rate him sufficiently to pay him the going rate..

It's possible Bruce might have a look at him for Sheff Wed, or if Villa stay down, perhaps Dean Smith might throw him a bone.

Other than that, I think it'll be someone with a lower profile than Brentford that will sign him (in this division or below),

There's an assumption on their board that they've just got someone else lined up that they rate more.

Coventry City appear resigned to losing star defender Jordan Willis as clubs queue up to take him on a free transfer.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins had hoped to keep the 24-year-old centre-back who is out of contract this summer.
CoventryLive understands the club's Academy graduate has been offered a tempting deal to stay at his home town club where he has played over 200 games, but that the player feels the time is right to test himself in the Championship.

Newly promoted Luton Town look favourites to land Willis's signature but the player has plenty of options to consider with late moves being made by Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City.

Hull City and Derby County are also understood to have been monitoring the defender, while Portsmouth are also believed to be keen on the Coventry-born player, although if Pompey fail to get promoted via the play-offs that could scupper their chances.

It is likely that it will be someone lower profile in the Championship but it will still be a Championship club who didn't have to pay a penny in transfer fees for a Championship quality RB.

He may also have demanded far too much money, we are just speculating.

Either way I will happily wager he will be a better Right Back than whoever we end up signing.
