I can't stand Liverpool but of course I wanted them to win. Why would I want the over hyped Spanish team to win?

Always support your own, and the under dog in this scenario.

Hull Reds been out in force I see.

This thread displays more excitement and more activity than any of our own match threads this season.

And was obviously not the greatest achievement ever in football, as I’ve seen it billed this morning.

To save trawling back through the thread, has anyone praised the quick thinking ballboy?
Wouldn't have happened with one of our lot.

Anybody listen to Radio Humberside on the early show, l thought it was Radio Merseyside the way the presenter was going on.

Radio Merseyside was no doubt similar when we won the play off final.

Just seen this little piece in the Independent about it:

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been hailed as a genius for the quick corner kick that led to Liverpool’s fourth and deciding goal last night. Yet to begin to understand the pursuit of impossible it is best to start with the instructions and the even spread of information.

Liverpool’s match analysts had noticed last week in the Camp Nou how Barcelona’s players moaned and became distracted whenever a free-kick or a throw-in was awarded against them, even if the decision was blatantly the correct one. This made Jurgen Klopp recognise the possibilities. And so, he filtered a message through the club. It proves that he certainly had not given up – that Liverpool’s recovery was not purely borne out of adrenaline and special oils. His belief was not blind. It translated into plans and schemes.

Carl Lancaster is a coaching mentor the club’s academy in Kirkby and amongst his responsibilities is the co-ordination of ball boys. He had told them to serve Liverpool’s players as swiftly as possible on Tuesday morning. Oakley Cannonier did not forget and with eleven minutes to go, he fed Alexander-Arnold while Barcelona’s defence fidgeted amongst themselves 20-yards away. It seemed astonishing they were blissfully unaware of what might happen considering Liverpool had already shown their bulldozing intent.

Something for the lad to cut out and keep. I don't think any of the Barcelona players will be hoarding press cuttings. Not least of all Suarez. His contribution was summarised, Machiavellian ****housery.

I hate how the media only notice somebody when they end up at a bigger club.

Robertson has improved but he’s not a massively better player to the one we had in his final season here. Difference is that his stats look better because he’s in a much stronger side supplying more clinical strikers. The runs, the speed, the counters, the recovery runs etc were always there.

I know a Liverpool fan who argued with me at the start of last season that Moreno will be Liverpool’s number 1 left back last season and I just laughed at him and told him to wait and see.

    Who’s laughing now?

    Well, he probably still is...

Trent said in his post match that he basically just tried his luck.

As for the ball boy, I’m pretty sure UEFA want the multiball rule for getting it back in play.

Steve McManaman was atrocious on co-commentary. He kept saying Barca players were diving and wanted them all booking when they made tackles. At one point, Suarez took an accidental elbow to the face and he wanted him to just get up and get on with it.

Just tried his luck as in, hope the ball in was good enough for a more or less tap in, or tried his luck fully expecting the ref to disallow it for taking the corner to soon?

At the other end, Barcelona score from a similarly taken Messi corner, cue more journalistic deification.

Roberston gets to attack more/overlap more/cross more because he's playing in a better team so that he is not on the backfoot so much.

He looks nowhere near as good when he's playing for Scotland obvs.

The ridiculously low price they paid for him is not so much evidence of Klopp's acumen as Ehab Allam's inability to manage his playing assets so they don't get away for next to nowt.
