Not sure if your point, I don’t support City! Pool have had **** loads of points from dodgy ref decisions, as have most the top 4, but particularly from Salahs antics. Congrats though, it’s got you to 2nd place and who knows what will go on next week. And good luck tonight, hope it’s a cracking game with 2 early goals for you
I hope I’m not being labelled with that! I wished you all well and thought it’s been a great title race, what ****ing difference does it matter when someone comes on. Maybe they shouldn’t allow folks from other teams to mingle if it upsets some of you that much...
It's a standard #bitter argument to say that if Everton (or whoever) didn't win a trophy, and Liverpool didn't win a trophy, then both clubs are the same and had just as good seasons. The next step is then to claim Everton (or whoever) even come out ahead because they didn't even expect to compete for anything in the first place.
I'm always happy to talk to fans of other clubs - but I don't want to get into pointless arguments just for the sake of point-scoring. If you continue to cling to your argument about spending - despite the conclusive evidence to the contrary - then it's no longer a discussion, it just becomes an argument for its own sake. Net spend is the important factor. It reflects the fact that you've lost players and need to replace them. It also shows that you're spending money that is legitimately earned through footballing business. Reducing the sample parameter to just one season is daft - it's the amount of money City have pumped in since they were taken over that has got them where they are now. Inflation following the ludicrous transfer fees of Neymar, Coutinho etc have dictated the amount of money LFC have had to spend in order to acquire the players needed to compete. Three years ago we could have bought VvD and Alisson for half the price we had to pay. Of course Liverpool have spent a lot more money than most clubs in our league, we're a bigger club than most - but to say we've outspent City is just wrong.
Thanks for the sensible reply. I dont totally agree with net spend as you say, can distort/inflate potentially. Interesting quote I will leave this forum from Klopp three years ago. “Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players, yes." “Do I have to do it differently to that? Actually, I WANT to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I COULD spend that money." In related news, Liverpool outspent Manchester City this year.
Think Everton pretty well rolled over against City, but equally, I thought United played better against them in the first half than they did against us. In both those away games we were insipid against struggling, weakened opposition; but no complaints overall because we gained spawny points in some games that we lost in others. They key will always be that City game - small margins (the one off the line) and not really going at a nervous, skittish City until we belatedly brought Fab on. But hey, ho … 97 points - who wouldn't have took that at the start of the season?
we posted record profits so it's not like we are spending money we haven't got earned so i'm not sure what the problem is.
https://www.totalsportek.com/money/premier-league-clubs-transfers-net-spend-last-5-years/ Man City's net spend over five years is 500m Euros. Liverpool's is only 20m more than West Ham's. You did take into account the Coutinho money in that slanted claim, didn't you?
Why would you not use net spend? It's the fairest measure. But just for you I looked up Klopp's spend at Liverpool = £379,303,000. Guardiola at city (one year less than Klopp) = £462,378,000 I don't know why you don't just say what you really want to say and be done with it - you hate Liverpool
phew They should let us superb negotiators sort out the easy stuff next lets start with Brexit and then move on to the tricky stuff like is Chinese or Indian snap better .
You’ve had a cracking season, been good to watch etc. However, you could well end up winning nothing, which will show in the history books as you winning **** all again.
Mate, I dont hate Liverpool. Most of them on our board do, but not really me. They have played amazing football this season and hats off to them for that
I'm experiencing life now, not in the future through history books BTW #bite and got you back on the LFC board
Count yourself lucky this isn't the spurs board mate or you'd have been banned after your first comment
