<applause> On keeping Macclesfield in the football league. The much loved former Spurs captain, and all round good guy, described his first managerial job as a "baptism of fire". I'm sure football supporters everywhere, but especially in North London, will wish to congratulate the great man, and wish him well in all his future managerial endeavours.

Macclesfield v Spurs in the 3rd round of the FA cup next season ?

Being honest!

He kept promising that he would sign the new contract that was ready for him, when all the time he was negotiating with Whinger and running down his old contract so he could get more money for himself from the Goons.

Yeah, that contract thing is annoying.

Pochettino kept assuring Saints he’d sign a new contract at the end of the 13/14 season. Meanwhile, he was negotiating a contract with Spurs all along. That’s modern football mate - makes lying bastards of everyone.

I do t recall him saying anything about that after Cortese went. If Cortese had stayed so would Poch, imo.

That was long, long ago...
I know but my point is that transfers between the clubs is possible without the rancour.
It seems Spurs were just bitter that he left to a bigger club and win trophies, which he did.
Yet when Poch left Saints for the same reasons as Sol that’s all right!

I recall it very well. He strung us along.

He might have stayed if Cortese hadn’t left though, true. We’ll never know.

I looked.

The only thing I can find him saying is that he would leave it until the end of the season to decide. Nowhere does he promise he will sign a new contract.

It’s your club, but yeah, the impression I got was that had Cortese stayed, so would he,

No! No double standards at all. MP never explicitly promised to sign a new contract with Saints.

We were far more angry at the way the the two face sack of ****e did it.

He certainly gave the club to believe that he would sit down and discuss a new contract at the end of the season. Yet all the time he was negotiating with Spurs, unbeknown to Saints. So he was deliberately dishonest and duplicitous; which most people in the modern game are, so no biggie.

Like I say, the difference is that Campbell said he was going to sign the new contract. MP never did.

Splitting hairs here. What Campbell did is no different to what Poch did when he left the Saints. He just went to a bigger club.

Of course it is.

Nowhere has MP explicitly promised he would sign a new contract. The only thing he said was that he would decide at the end of the season.

Well people are allowed to change their minds I suppose. Essentially it's the same thing though, both made indications that they were going to stay, but then left for bigger clubs.
