This is undoubtedly the case. Also rugby being seen as a game for hardcases would have appealed to the Hessle Road mentality.

In the late 1960s/early 1970s there were games, especially away, when I wished football had appealed to more of those hardcases.

That was the feeling I got, we know the Allam's, "No one tells them how to run their business". Nigel has tried and had 2 x 3 hours meeting, and still hasn't got them to move, so can't see a 3rd meeting resolving what he asks for.

Populations in some cities are misleading, Hull for example doesn't include its natural suburbs like Cottingham, Hessle, Willerby, Hedon, Anlaby, Kirk Ella etc. Without them the population for 2019 is 260,700. With the above would be around 330,000. Nottingham is another prime example it too has tight boundaries.

Leicester has tight boundaries as well. Other places stretch their boundaries for miles.

Though a lot of the ones you mention aren't really suburbs, they are separate nearby entities.

He basically said that he needs to be given room to have a chance to be competitive. After 2 x 3 hour meetings, it seems so far he hasn't got the assurances he is wanting, Unless he does, I get the feeling from what he said that he would leave unless he gets somewhere near what he wants.

I think our owners are bad...mortons manager has walked because the owner insists the club's main sponsor be able to pick the team...

Our owners have been clueless from day one on how to run a football club (they treat lifelong supporters the same way they treat a punter looking to buy a diesel engine) & treat the fans as an inconvenience to be suffered on a daily basis. Our only hope is The Allams will sell the club to owner(s) who actually have a vision for the club & are prepared to invest in the team to get promotion back to the PL.The Allams have no such vision. They have only one interest which is making millions every year in interest from "the debt" ie how much money Allam Marine has lent Hull City AFC @ 5% interest per annum. The debt is currently 60 million so they have no desire to sell whilst earning 3 million a year for doing absolutely nothing. We are stuck with these leeches that are slowly sucking the lifeblood out of our beloved club. Expect Bowen,Grosicki, Henriksen to be sold off in the next few weeks & sub standard Div 1 players brought in to replace them. Under The Allams continued ownership all we can hope for is avoiding relegation to Div 1 every season. It is a truly depressing situation.

He will stay he just wants a guarantee if we are in the bottom 6 next season he doesnt get sacked.
He just wants a long deal does Nigel.
Unless Reading are looking for a new manager.

When I first started watching City in late 60s/early 70s, City got 20,000 and Hull got about 2,000.

They can't all have been at sea or getting pissed in Rayners.. This was when the fishing was still thriving and employing people.

Then we had the Cod Wars and undoubtedly a lot of men suddenly had jobs onshore or not at all. Maybe that's when Hull's support grew and when Bunting started winning games?

    Our average in 19691970 season was 11,192. Terry Neill's first eason 70/71 it was 19,724, 71/72 13,444, 72/73 9,233, 73/74 8,215.
Went to the odd FC game in those seasons.More than 2,000 there. It was later in the 70s when Hull's crowds slipped. They got less than 1,000 on two occasions. There was a photo in the HDM of one away game were there was only 1 FC there. Then all of a sudden within a few years there were thousands of life long fans who hadn't missed a game in years on their way to Wembley

    Based on?

If you don't like him fair enough. If you think he's done a bad job with what he was given you're wrong.

Everything points to him wanting City to be in a position to be competitive next season. Nothing suggests it's about a longer contract or more money....

    IMHO.

    Dislike him no.
Has he done a good job yes

Do I think he will stay? yes, like he said in his interviews he doesnt want to find himself in a position where he has been given a small hand to play with with yet expectation is to high and he has been given the boot in September following poor results.

    Good stats.

Unfortunately Hull attendance stats (even now arf!) are very hard to find.- especially for the 60s/70s

    They would make interesting reading.

just found a bizarre article on the72.com

looks like they had a poll for people to vote the managers into order by bestness. apparently nige came in at 17th.

or, as the page for nige explains it

"Hull City head coach Slavisa Jokanovic has been voted by you as the 17th best manager in the EFL."

looks like nige is secretly a bit on the foreign side.

    It's 4% and £50 million.
And they will know that they can't keep earning interest on a 'debt' from something that is now losing money.
I agree with some of the sentiment though.

I suspect with player sales the debt (and Allam sales price for City) may reduce to c£30m over this Summer. The main remaining asset (potentially) may be the sell on clause from Harry should he move on. Remaining assets would be the players still with us, and any projected gross profit from trading (likely to be negligible) so whichever you look at it, any new buyer is going to have to take a punt, pay over the odds, and invest further in an attempt to be both competitive on the pitch in an effort to get back to The Prem.
