I'd have that, with Ridegwell, Willo, Raylor and Kadar as cover (and possibly Simmo if he stays.)

What ever happened to Nadir Belhadj? I thought he was class for Portsmouth, then he moved to the UAE and I've just seen a thread linking him with Reading. Should go for him if we want a LB IMO.

If we sell Simspon, we should get Cissokho :D

    Santon - Taylor - Coloccini - Cissokho

Ha! The normal Simmo scapegoat routine. I'm positive one was Tiote and one was Coloccini. Oh but they are exempt from blame and must be rated at least an 8 out of 10 every week with a lot of people. Tiote has been ****e this season, I hope it was because of Ramadan like rumoured.

Oh and Raylor is not a good defender.

    This. One was definitely Tiote.

Spot on. Coloccini was also marking Dempsey when he scored.
Btw the only thing keeping Raylor in the first team is his spot kick abilities. Nothing else...

He backs off just as much, he only looks more solid as he has clearly been told to stay back at all times. If Simpson did that we'd be saying the same thing.

Cabaye can take over set piece duty.

A lot of criticism on here is unfair tbh. If these players never made these mistakes and had no flaws in their game they wouldn't be playing for us. Santon has many weaknesses as well, so do Pieters and Cissokho, hence why they are our level of players.

Cissokho - can't defend + caught upfield often + questionable work ethic

Pieters - possible lack of pace, solid but unspectacular

Santon - often caught upfield, especially due to cutting inside regularly and ending up on the opposite flank + MASSIVE confidence player

Not saying these guys are bad players at all, just that a lot of expectations on here are unrealistic.

Watch Raylor on the right, he will be a ot worse as he doesn't have Jonas backing him up.

I disagree mate, Simpson doesn't have the ability at all imo. He was a very obvious weak link in the back four last season and doesn't seem to have improved since his first season with us. He's not bad going forward and has a decent cross on him but defensively, and most importantly, he's quite poor.

Simpson has a lot of improving to do. It's also clear his level has been way down this year due to other things. Don't understand this desire to see Ridgewell I must admit. Don't rate the lad and he is crap at left back. You're getting a very average centre half no more. He's the sort of guy Bruce would sign to be honest! I'd hope we will be looking to bring a better left back in time. Santon can do a job there until we sort someone.

We do need centre back cover quite badly. If Tayls or Colo goes down at present, who comes in? Perch or Kadar!! One is cackamondo, and the other seems to be doing his best impression of the invisible man.

Can't agree with the comments on Cissokho but admittedly haven't seen much while in France. But I saw plenty at Porto and he had very few weaknesses. He was a fanatstic defender so the can't defend comment is baffling. Don't know about his character. In my opinion if we got him we'd be signing a player way above our level who has gone through a sticky patch. Much like Santon.

Offered him a 5 year contract months ago and it looks like he is yet to sign it. Wouldnt be a great miss really hes shown rare glimpses of quality. But hes been consistantly average and sometimes poor, hes a good squad player and can be fairly solid, if we are moving forward to better things i.e europa league then simpson would b e one of the players we would replace first anyway
