I appreciate there's an awards thread and it has likely been covered there, but wanted to open it up to a poll. To be clear, the five names in the poll are the five nominees on the shortlist from the Daily Echo. I've added an 'other' if you think it's someone else, but I would imagine there'll be reasonable consensus. You can vote for anyone you want for the club's official award, but the Echo is down to a choice of just five nominees on a shortlist. Gotta be Redmond for me, other players have had spells of being better perhaps but he's been our biggest attacking threat for pretty much the entire season. Pierres disciplinary record goes against him.
Redmond for me also, Ralph has certainly raised Redmonds belief in himself.......wasn't so long back he wasn't even in the squad.
Yes, Redmond for me too. That’s no reflection on the way players like JWP and Bednarek have seized their opportunities, but Nathan has been good all season.
For me it was between Redmond and Hojbjerg, I think Redmond has had more standout performances whilst Hojbjerg's been more consistent for the whole season (except when suspended I suppose....), even under Hughes
Yep, Redders for me also and i'm a bit miffed that Southgate hasn't called him up again as yet. He plays with his head up so much more now and has become a real team player and his attitude has been spot on this season too. I think that Pierre has been exceptional as well and has taken the skipper's armband and led by example (although, as Libs said, his red cards mark against him a little). JWP. Bedders, Romeu, Angus, Stuey and Valery have been very good since Ralph took over as well. An interesting sub vote might be the most chronic Defender of the season, be a few contenders there!...
I agree, although I like to refer to “Pierre’s desire to win, resulted in some suspensions.” I do actually think his attitude had rubbed off on some others. He and Bednarek are close behind Redders
I said I thought it would be close on the other thread I’ve voted for JWP, not just to be contrary, but because it seems a little unfair to discriminate against Bednarek & JWP because we had a charlatan as a manager for the first third of the season. James has come out and imposed himself as a footballer this season, from being on the fringes, to now being one of the first names on the team sheet. He has also delivered in key moments in crucial games. The boy becometh a man
As good as Bednarek and JWP have been under Ralph, it's player of the season rather than player of the half season. So in my book there are only two candidates: Redmond and PEH. And Redmond wins.
Yep, Redders for me too. Game changer, match winner, great pace, things don't always come off for him but you know what, he doesn't hide and Will give it a go and creates a buzz of anticipation when he gets the ball. I would like to see an England call up. Worth the price of the ticket to see him play
Absolutely Redmond for me. Exciting, more consistent and opponents scared of him. All good. Also hard working.
Usually if 70% of you agree with me it means I'm not trolling hard enough. But Redmond is the right answer. Depends which website you believe, but he might have the most minutes of any player since we came up (except Forster playing every minute in 16-17). It's so rare to get that out of a striker and for him to consistently perform, and without it we'd have such a big hole. Never mind, he got benched for the West Ham game
Definitely Redmond. I love seeing him playing with a smile on his face and it shows in the way he plays too. (Did that make sense?!)
