Very impressive from Chacan Pour Soi there now 6/1 for the champion chase next March! I know he has won but I just don’t know how anyone could have backed him at 3/1 for such an unknown! But was impressive- Defi just seemed to lack his injection of pace at the end!!
What a performance from Elfile!! Took lengths out in a matter of strides!! The owners have 3 very talented mares!!
Delighted with Hotsy Totsy there. I never imagined she would win like that. Coming into tonight's race she was rated only 4 lbs behind the favourite on Racing Post figures. Obviously these are only very early ratings but the Hannon filly was priced as if she had a stone in hand. Looking at them Hotsy Totsy had a similar size to the favourite and to my eyes you would not really have said that one was 420,000 and the other only a bit over 5 grand. A bit like a Fiat beating a Ferrari for some maybe but it didn't look like a fluke and that looked like a winning performance of at least 90 to me. In the other race of the night I was a shade disappointed with Royal Intervention. She showed good speed to take a handy position in front but simply seemed to tire. Maybe she will be better for the run. I thought the Charlton horse got a terrible ride dawdling about at the back of the field as if the jockey had grass growing. She ran wide when coming with her run and snuffed Lady Aria's chance out when drifting back in late. Lady Aria ran well backed in a little from big odds earlier, while I felt Red Impression was let down badly by Jason Watson. The winner was nearly a stone behind the best of these on official ratings and will probably be punished by the handicapper for winning this. The Varian filly ran awfully along with Godolphin's Nashirah, who had run in the Nell Gwyn last time. If I was thinking of the Nell Gwyn winner Qabala for the Guineas at short odds, I would be hearing massive alarm bells right now. Nashirah was beaten more than 8 lengths tonight but was a little over 5 lengths closer than that to Qabala in the Nell Gwyn. The other horse to run from the Nell Gwyn was stuffed into second last in a 5F Listed race at Bath of all places. I would be laying the hell out of Qabala and see her as a terrible favourite for the Guineas, at a terrible price. I could easily see her going off neither favourite nor second favourite on the day. A Kontiki drift seems in order to me.
