I have been thinking with our defence still letting in stupid goals we need to really address this and quick. People have had a pop at Matt Mills for it. But i see the problem is with Sol Bamba. As an individual he started the season really well but he doesnt try and link up with Mills. We tried Bamba and SSL together and yhat didnt work. Bamba needs to realise sometimes he is a centre half and he needs to be less flamboyant. Both Mills and SSL i think will work together as a unit better and I think they should start on saturday. Peltier should come in aswell for Pantsil. I think we will beat Brighton quite comfortably and thats not because they are a bad team. They will come here and play football and every team that does that we win. I hope Sven goes into the loan market and gets a striker in as Vassell isnt good enough to start and he should be used as an impact sub but i cant see that happening. Anyway this is the team i would play Schmeichel Peltier Mills St. Ledger Konchesky Fernandes King Wellens Danns Beckford New Striker/ Howard Subs Bamba, Pantsil, Oakley, Dyer, Vassell I think a kick up to arse for Bamba will do him good and i think Mills and SSL would do well together
Trouble is Brighton this season are like Norwich last season so I'm just hoping that a little luck comes our way too! Anyway, I agree, drop Sol and go 442, please God make Sven play 442. I wonder if Sven's mind is on Nancy and those sequins.......
I agree with your team Proud except I would stick with Vassell. I don't think he had that bad a game yesterday. I would bring in Peltier for Pantsil because I feel John had an awful game yesterday and I think the reason Mills looked a bit suspect was because he was always having to cover for Pantsil who was out of position. I would also play St Ledger alongside him because I think it would help Mills to play alongside someone who is less of a maverick than Bamba and more a solid CB. It would also give Sol a wake up call like you said because on his day he's very good but at the moment he is a liability for us. I don't think we should write of Sean yet just because of one bad game. He was man of the match for Ireland recently so he has got the ability and is in a bit of form as well. He'll also know he has to perform which I think will help him. The other change I would make is King for Gallagher because Gally hasn't started the season very well and King did well when he came on. I agree that Brighton coming here and playing football should suit us so I'm confident of a win. I just hope Sven plays the diamond and there is no way he can't now surely it's obvious it is our best formation and even Gelson Fernandes pre-match said the players like playing in the diamond. I would go: please log in to view this image Subs: Weale Bamba Gallagher Dyer Schlupp
Kasper Peltier Mills St Ledger Konchesky Danns/Vassell Wellens Fernades Dyer Beckford Howard. four, four, F**KING two!! back to basics!
oh dear, oh dear, suggesting Bamba should be dropped because of Mills short comings is ridiculous, Bamba is strong in the air and the tackle, quick both with and without the ball, able to play a pass and on occasion can do a job up top. Mills is I'm afraid none of these.
I donât know about new what about the old, Tunchev why is he at Palace for another month? Get Vitor back from Benfica, and why did Sven think Mills was worth 3/5 million and Ben Mee wasnât?
proud, sorry matey but youre talking balls, mills has been cack all season, did you go to barnsley? bamba was the only defender who played well, i say try peltier at centre back.
Well look at it this way. Ever since we signed Bamba we have leaked goals on around 2 a game which is too high. Mills was solid for Reading so he cant be a bad defender. We have tried Bamba and Mills. Bamba and St. Ledger yet we are still conceding. St. Ledger is a decent defender proven last week playing for ROI and apart from his mistakes where Maynard nicked the ball off him he didnt do that bad against Bristol. St. Ledger and Mills may defend better as a unit then Bamba would with anyone else. Bamba individually has been good but he doesnt do his partner any favours some times.
Thinking outside the box a bit, what do people think about trying a 3-5-2, with attacking wing-backs? Think it might just have the right balance, and be the formation that allows us to pick our best players in the right positions. Something like this: please log in to view this image
We won't use that now, we should have with Naughton and PVA though. Konch and Pelts are not attacking fullbacks.
