That's a strange first name Had our eye on him for some time....be nice to get an early signing in....not Saints forte.
Players we reportedly interested in. Rafael Toloi Gary Cahill Kalvin Phillips Danny Drinkwater Thomas Goiginger Shoya Nakajima
Had to look some of them up as I'm not as knowledgeable as some of you guys #cough. Rafael Toloi CB Gary Cahill CB Kalvin Phillips MF Danny Drinkwater MF Thomas Goiginger MF Red alert: Austrian Shoya Nakajima MF Apparently we have been following Nakajima for a while...bit on the short side, but Saints have always liked a shorty...shame he isn't a red head. Described as the Japanese Messi.
I'd really like us to be looking at players like Daniel James of Swansea. Exactly the sort of player we should be targeting this summer (as well as a CB leader)
Bring him on for the last 5 minutes of all the games we're winning. He'll become a fans firm favourite.
If he's still at Swansea next season, I'll be amazed. I suspect the queue for him this summer will be very long (quite possibly headed by Wolves, if they can offer him European football where no-one else can - his electric pace would be ideal for their counter-attacking style).
I wonder if years of links to Pontus Jansson might materialise this summer if Leeds don't win the play-offs. Definitely a leader and a big character...
I assume that's a "has similar name to former player" link. Which was, after all, our main criterion for appointing Mauricio Pellegrino.
If I remember rightly, it was less a case of turning it down, and more a case of not responding to Leeds and just letting the clock tick down to 11pm that deadline day evening. But the offer was something like £11m. And that was before he started to appear on TV in the FA Cup, and for Wales, and consequently attract much greater attention.
It's worth keeping in mind the contract statuses of some of our contributors. Redmond, Hojberg, Romeu and Bertrand will all be down to their final two seasons; that makes the latter two more likely to be moved, and it means that we will have a difficult decision if the former two cannot be signed to a longer-term contract.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if someone turned up with a huge wad of cash for Nathan. He's coming into his peak years and is showing his class. I'd love to see us extend his contract. (Though there are still people within earshot of me at the ground who would happily give him away on a free transfer) Vin
