Just seen that apparently PSG and Marseille are considering making Rafa an offer for next season.

Apparently Rafa still wants to stay with us.

I have a strong feeling the Fat **** will let Rafa walk rather than risk losing face by being seen to ‘lose face’ to Rafa.

If he does go and we get some ****house yes man in again what is likely to happen at the club?

Nothing short of an implosion for me.

Players like Lascelles, Perez, Ritchie, Schar, Dubravka will surely walk as will many fans as it may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

The ****storm which will hit the club will surely be immense.

    Agree.

Players will leave and the atmosphere wil become toxic if we don’t get off to a good start. And couldn’t stand a “yes” man like Pardew in charge.

If Rafa leaves the sun will rise the next morning and life, with all its real joy and problems, will go on. Nufc will continue to exist and we will continue to support it.

I’ve asked the supermods what’s happening here. It’s news to me.

I'd like to keep him but the drama over the thought of him leaving is not something I'll be getting involved. As always the club is far bigger than one individual.

When Rafa leaves, we can look forward to a 'Huddersfield-esque' season in the PL, followed by a trip down the leagues just like Scumderland :)

Just not sure why people thinking that Rafa leaving would be the end of the world. I assume it is only because of what will arrive in his shoes. Because lets face it, there are countless managers out there who could do a equally as good job as Rafa does. Indeed there are countless who could probably do a better job. This whole Rafa hero worship is just silly. He's done a cracking job but he is just one man and contrary to popular belief, is very much replaceable.

There is no historical evidence to suggest his departure would guarantee relegation, it wouldn't. There is absolutely zero evidence to suggest we'd plummet through the leagues like Sunderland. The reality is we could we relegated with Rafa at the helm, we could be relegated without him. It would be more likely unless we got a similar calibre of manager obviously. It is highly unlikely we'd plummet and far more likely we'd invest and bounce straight back again. I understand fully the fear of who will arrive but that is something we've dealt with for over 10 years now.

There are several (Not countless) who could do as well or better. The chances of us getting one of them are low.

Relegation would be likely. Promotion would be uncertain . Double relegation would be unlikely. A prolonged stay in the Championship would very.much be on the cards.

I feel Rafa will be going and a couple of fiancial windfalls in Ashley's favour came up in the last couple of weeks:
Guardian article on Saturday had us on 19 televised games not counting Brighton and scousers so 21 (scousers 29 top)
Ashley bought old department store for £12m in Dublin sold 2 weeks ago for £20m
so not short of a few bob,his thinking why invest when I'm earning!

I disagree and think you have it the wrong way round. Promotion would be likely. Relegation would be uncertain. Double relegation - very remote.

That’s what the last 10 years tell us.

I'm sure he saw his £150m investment in Debenhams wiped out a few weeks ago. That's gonna sting for a while, £8m is just pocket change to him sadly.

Our squad is poor. The last ten years are irrelevant in terms of Rafa being the 'thread' that keeps Newcastle United in the Premier League.

We can have a pantomine style argument if you like, but I firmly believe that our status is dependent on keeping Mr Benitez on Tyneside.

Our most effective player, Rondon, doesn't even belong to us!
