Full time 1-1 anyone else think this result was pre arranged ? **** off Mike Dean -- lets keep the game going whilst Brighton have the ball even though it's over the added time then blows as soon as Newcastle clear --- ****er
Situation there where he's in the box, players either side, Rondon to aim at and he smashes some ****ing playground effort over the bar. Won't be missed, to say the least. Hope the next manager makes a better fist of signings than some of the **** we've been served up.
Poor second half, looked like they thought it was over at half time. Thought Jonjo looked good today some great little apsses and retained the ball well. Probably not much about to shout about for the rest of the season on that second half display.
Well we only have ourselves to blame for throwing three points away. Brighton couldn’t have played worse and it was obvious they would have to step it up in the second half, and they did just that. It shouldn’t have mattered, as we ought to have put the game to bed in the first half. I couldn’t understand why we didn’t play with more tempo and get the second goal? We were too timid and seemed to get sucked into playing slower and slower, rather than dictating a quicker tempo. We didn’t deserve to lose, but we could have done, which based on the dominance we started off with, would have been shocking. Two points dropped, rather than one gained.
Watching MotD again You have to wonder what Mike Dean and probably the rest of the refs have against us 2 pens not given for us and when you see the soft pens given against us you have to wonder There is no consistency in their decisions something hopefully var will sort out Swings and roundabouts bull **** This season alone More like 15 against and one for
Should have won and I fee if our situations in the league were reversed we would have done due to necessity. Brighton look very poor, they should have been fighting from the off, if they don't go down this season (and they almost certainly wont) they'll need a busy summer. As for us, we just look a bit shot. Injuries taking their toll and the longer the game wore on the more it was starting to look like a Newcastle B side. Ideally we'd have had the likes of Longstaff, Perez, Lejeune, Almiron, etc on the pitch. Kenedy has to go obviously but the guys an enigma - this time last season he looked amazing and you wonder if it's all just mentality at having been side-lined. If we'd bought him for £20 million or so instead of spending £13m? on Murphy he would probably be a very different player right now but I guess it isn't about if's and buts, he looks shocking now (and has done pretty much all season).
I think once again we only have ourselves to blame. Its a by product of having Rafa here we have to accept. He is from the old school of the defensive minded coaches that think you protect a lead first and foremost. He must have an italian in him somewhere down the line he is such a defensive coach. We were saying it from early on second half, he had us sit too deep and was trying to be cute inviting them on. I have some sympathy as Kenedy and Atsu instead of Perez/Almiron is a huge change in energy. However there is no point in pretending this to be down to personnel changes. Its just the managers way and over the course of the season it certainly hasn't harmed us to accept his methods. I just think he has scope to improve as we do drop a few points like this over a season. You just get a feel for it in certain games and the minute we didn't get that blatant pen, I could sense we were retreating. Overall we did well. I couldn't rave about anyone in black and white though. To a man they all had a great 45mins. To a man they all had a poor second 45mins. Well except for Dummett who is just world class as a left sided centre back in a three Special mention to Manquillo who has done well of late for a lad of his limited ability.
