A couple of ew’s for me today & ew double. 2.05 Haydock Great Prospector 3.35 Sandown Ballydine I’m just going to hang my Sean Dyche picture, so have a good weekend fellas
It’s the obsession with Grade1 races and the money thrown at them. It’s resulted in good horses not going for races like the Whitbread.
Morning all - officially the last day of the jumps - the flat will shortly take centre stage which really is depressing with a capital D... anyhoo two bets today: Sandown 1.50pm Harambe 10/1 each way Excellent performance at Market Rasen at the beginning of the month gives plenty of confidence that he is up to this level and a 5lb rise looks more than fair so he will do for me. Sandown 3.35pm Just a Sting 7/1 each way. Looks to have a really progressive profile and providing he can see out this extra distance has a massive chance. Good luck to Altior today as he goes for the record..
15:35 Sandown - Just A Sting (Agree with CaptainPops. Will be well-suited to the fast ground. Did not run too badly in the Kim Muir when unsuited to the softish going. Top jockey, good young trainer. Certainly on a tempting low weight here, a sporting Saturday bet. Certainly cannot find anything else!) Good luck today everyone with your wagers!
On my way to Sandown to (hopefully) see the mighty Altior! Even if he runs I do think Sceau Royal must stand a chance on this ground.
One bet again today lads. This is in the 2.45 at Leicester LAUGH A MINUTE. On form he cannot beat Don Juan Triumphant or Eqtidaar an yet Atzeni could have ridden 3 for Varian at Haydock
I fancied that. The fact that Pricewise has picked it and therefore the value has disappeared has now got me casting round for alternatives. For good or ill I've chanced Rock the Kasbah to bounce back from his Aintree mishap in a race he's run well in before.
I was a bit disappointed with Black Cortons last run. Quite a tricky race to solve but if I was betting in it I would probably take a chance on San Benedeto who ran well on this card last year getting to within 3 lengths of the mighty Altior...
Very keen on Go Conquer today. He won the Great Yorkshire Chase at Donny in January off a mark of 151 in conditions very similar to today's. He was raised 6lbs for that and ran a big race for a long way in the Grand National, jumping boldly up with the pace before weakening after the canal turn second time around - clearly didn't stay. Today's trip is much more suitable and I think he can run a massive race in what is a fairly tight handicap with nothing looking really unexposed.
yes, reasonable thoughts, but i think,CHARBEL can get back on track again today.not much hasnt gone right for him since his runaway peterborough win this season, but he may have had excuses, especially trying to go with cyrname in the ascot chase.but otherwise, hes a classy horse, and a good run wouldnt surprise..
I have an ante-post bet on Eqtidaar for the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot. The thinking was that the Sprint division is short on stars and that the Commonwealth Cup winner could improve for Stoute aged four. The July Cup didn't pan out for him and his last race of the season was on desperate ground. I was a bit surprised to see Eqtidaar go for the 7F race at Leicester, as he had been entered up in the Pavilion over 6F, which would seem a more logical choice if the horse is going sprinting this season. The official line is that Eqtidaar runs here in order to assess options for him during the season but if he were my horse I would have skipped the Pavilion because Calyx is likely to go there. Reading about Eqtidaar, it has been said that he has progressed markedly in physique from last year, where they felt he was still a bit weak and immature despite his Group 1 success. The stable have had some winners and I have Eqtidaar down as a horse who should make good headway as a four year old. I feel he is the one with scope and if he gets the trip I think he can win today. He's my only bet today. 2.45 Leicester Eqtidaar 11/4
Jesus H, Apparate was 4/7 Fav and ran like a drain. Have punters got no concept of value? The Channon horse Severance pissed up there, having been well thrashed by a 90 rated horse last time. I suspect the only Derby these will be running in is the Narnia Derby.
HEY GAMAN is a horse,i really like a lot,and though winless last season,he showed often enough, how good he is,so definite shout today..
Eqtidaar didn't look fully wound up. He was a bit keen early but his biggest problem was that he doesn't stay 7F. He weakened markedly and any nonsensical idea of trying him over further than 6F was surely knocked on the head once and forever there. Hey Gaman dotted up and he's a decent sort who was too highly tried last season and I thought he was very badly placed by his trainer. My worry for him today was that he was tried at 10F and a mile last year and I wasn't sure how he would go back to 7F. Hopefully Eqtidaar drops back to 6F and they can let his stride on. With this run under his belt he might do better but that was a disappointing start to the season and it seemed a poor choice of starting point for a horse whose best result came at 6F last year and they clearly regarded him as a sprinter with runs in the July Cup and the Haydock Sprint Cup afterwards.
Altior just ****s about a bit to keep it interesting. Some huge leaps there. Marvellous. Thank goodness for the Irish festivals to keep us sustained through the summer.
