Well - after 24 or so years, I am not certain that Mr. Scally has any - other than squeezing £300,000 in 'consultancy fees' - from a not very good L1 football team --- and definitely not investing any of his own money (( after his massive £1 investment )). -- unless he'd care to show me otherwise. I don't actually blame Mr. Scally for lining his own pockets - who wouldn't be tempted to do the same as him for £300K a year. He's a businessman ! I think that, like brb, I had better cut this short - for fear of libel - but would it be libel if I were to state a few 'home truths.' I feel so disappointed for Steve Lovell - the timing of his dismissal has been very disrespectful ( in my opinion ) -- and let's not forget - I have been critical of Lovell - so, I'm not having my usual 'dig' at Mr.Scally because of any real affection for Lovell's coaching ability ------ this is NOT about football - it's about the despicable way in which to sack an employee. Good luck for the future Steve .
Just to be clear - I have started this thread in preparation for comment when we learn of Mr.Scally's strategy for next season - just for once, I would love to be 'wrong' - a break from cynicism would be a welcome change !!........ will I be ducking any low flying pigs ?
I have not been a fan of Lovell's tactics - and, at times, coaching style - but he's done a fairly good job polishing 'excrement' - and doesn't deserve the disrespect given by Mr.Scally ----SO - playing Devil's advocate, would we feel the same if Scally had just sacked an overweight Caledonian self-abuser ? - just because he wasn't a 'nice' person ?
I can be counted among those who don't want to be Evans anywhere near our club, as DF or any other role. If he is appointed I will think long and hard about whether to attend any matches at Priestfield (not that I get to many in any case) However, even if Evans had had a similarly poor season and home performances as SL has supervised this season and been dismissed in the same manner, much as I would be pleased to see the back of him I would still consider that to be disrespectful. The whole matter is totally disgraceful
Well - I might recover by 1st June ! -------- brb needn't read this - nothing for you here mate. Watched the Liverpool game last night - and the Spurs game tonight. I know that Gills haven't got players of such quality - but- the entertainment on offer over these matches, is why people don't go to Priestfield on a wet, freezing cold Tuesday night - to be given a load of c rap. It's cost me a damned sight less than the price of a ticket for a Gills game to watch some thrilling drama. Mr.Scally has got to try to get a manager and players into the set up,to play 'attacking' football, to have any chance of enticing people out of their comfortable ( recliner ) armchair ((with cold beer beside )) ..... 1st June is the CL final
I was in a boozer when the Liverpool game was on, it was packed and the placed completely erupted when the fourth went in. Never saw the Spurs game, but heard it was another remarkable come back.
Forgot to say... It shouldn't go unnoticed that Gazzaniga was on the bench for Spurs in their fantastic win over Ajax.
He's definitely no. 2 at Spurs now. The thing is though, does any top club think he's good enough to be a no. 1?
