Warburton as short as 2/5. Anyone but tim has gone out to 6/1.

I'm surprised that some supporters seem to be turning up their noses at Warburton and Pearson. Our league position shows we have a poor squad of players and, with our parachute payments coming to an end, our FFP-restricted budget must look daunting. I'm tempted to say that beggars can't be choosers but that's being unfair to those particular candidates.

Warburton has a great coaching record and was part of a team that unearthed, developed (and sold at a profit) some very good championship players at Brentford. He helped establish that club as a force in the championship and as realistic promotion candidates. I've seen a comment that Glasgow Rangers fans weren't keen on him but, inter alia, I put that down to the high level of expectation at that club. He didn't last long at Notts Forest but, then again, who does?

Pearson, of course, performed a miracle in keeping Leicester City in the Premier League and laid the foundations for their subsequent success. His subsequent record is chequered but that's true of most experienced managers: in looking at managers' records, we need to factor in the circumstances in which they worked - size of budget, players' ability/attitude, chairman's support/interference - much of which is unknown to the general public. For those who pay attention to fans' opinions, I've seen reports that Pearson was very well-liked by fans and players at Leicester, despite his perhaps misleading public persona. Certainly, I believe he would be very demanding of an under-performing squad.

I would be pleased by the appointment of either man (or Carvalhal) and I believe that our owners, CEO and DoF have, in all the circumstances, done exceptionally well to get to this shortlist. Naturally, I would prefer Pep Guardiola but, when I phoned him to ask about his level of interest in the job, he was surprisingly unwilling to break his contract at Man City.

I think we are turning up our noses because they are part of the usual suspects on the
    British managererial merry go round
Maybe we need to look outside the box and show a bit of ****ing ambition
Doing this in six months time is doing us no favours
I see nothing to be pleased about with the names mentioned other than Tim having pissed off

I would be happy enough with Warburton, although I have backed Darren Moore. Was speaking to a mate who is a bee's season ticket holder and he said good things about him. As most if not ALL on here, anyone but tim.

A name that hasn't been mentioned but one whom I think would be ideal in our situaton is Michael O'neill the Northern Ireland manager. Working with very limited resources he's put together a proper team that is greater than the sum of it's parts and with little fanfare. Couldn't be any worse than any of the so-called names being bandied about at present...

Martin O'Neill is now the new Forest manager...and has taken them from possible playoff contenders...to playing us in a meaningless game. He is looking to rejig the team in the transfer window.
    No not for us

But don't his teams play really boring football? I remember they did years ago, and always sent me to sleep. So much boring football of O'Neill's kind, that I rarely watch anything but the R's, Vålerenga, and big International games now.

I think I can speak for most QPR fans when I say that boring and relatively successful would be a welcome change from crap and losing all the time :-D

With the latest short list of depressing prospective managers, I was trying to recall the last manager appointment where I was generally excited and to say I am struggling is a massive understatement. Does anyone have any managerial appointments over the last 30yrs which made you genuinely excited(clearly this would have needed to be before the predictable deflation after the 1st game loss!)

Would be happy with that. Best we can expect given our circumstances.
