You mean like signing Rhodes on loan with a large fee was in keeping with that structure? I have no idea whether Babel is even being considered, but when you're working within a tight budget, sometimes compromises have to be made. See my last post above.

    Rumour from fußballtransfers.com

Kwasi Okyere Wriedt (24), contracted to 2020.
22 goals and 7 assists in Bayern Munich II plus a couple of benches for the 1st team. (Left footed)

"Norwich City has also extended its feelers to Wriedt, as our editors learned. The German Daniel Farke coached club is virtually a starter in the English Premier League. Wriedt could bring out his enormous physicality and the move to the goal perfectly there.

But also in Germany licked next to the Hertha numerous clubs fingers for the dual Ghanaian international. The step back into the second team of the FC Bayern, which Wriedt had taken consciously about two years ago, could now pay off. Any doors are open to the native Hamburg."

EDIT: More here on him: http://bundesligafanatic.com/20171028/talent-radar-who-is-bayerns-kwasi-okyere-wriedt/

"At 1.87m tall, Wriedt is a powerful striker with pace to boot. He’s naturally two-footed and is not just an out-and-out goal-getter — he is a provider as well. Whether this elevation to the Bayern first-team is just a fleeting moment, or whether as Jérôme Boateng believes, Bayern have a ‘natural born talent’ remains to be seen."

Sounds awesome and will probably have wealthier teams interested in him.

Great to have such detailed information HMQC. He does look to be an SW type signing. Interesting to see whether anything develops.

I saw a rumour yesterday that Lyon were said to be interested in Godfrey, with the possibility of a bid of £10m.

    Surely too low for him

If you believe the rumours, every man and his dog are interested in Godfrey. Liverpool also touted. If SW and DF couldn't persuade him to another season, I'm quite sure Webber will double that proposed fee.

    Bah!

Gotta be honest and say I did not remember Ciaren Jones as well. I remember us signing someone from Luton.

This is so random as to feel like it may well have legs, though if he’s really that good I do wonder why we’ve not seen him on the bench for the matches where we were short of home grown players.

Here’s hoping he sees the possibilities if he stays with us.

Farke has stated that NCFC do not need to sell any players this summer. Let’s hope he sticks to his word.

Apparently he's on a permanent contract. We are PL now. His chances of breaking through under Farke are good, so why move?

Have read in a number of media outlets that promotion to PL will mean approx. £150m in funds. Although we do not want to do a Fulham and spend big time on players who don’t perform, why does this underlying theme of tight budgets still persist? If I recall correctly, our top spending on a player in the past has been about £8.0 to £9.5m. I can’t see that being topped this season but surely if the players are deemed suitable by Webber & Farke then £7.0 to £9.0m is not out of the question?

The thinking seems to be that we can't assume that we'll stay up next season, so we have to spread that money out over subsequent seasons to maintain stability and growth. We only need 3-4 players and we can do that on £20m. Young and hungry rather than old and mercenary.

Me too sounds like just the sort of forward DF would go for and proper competition for Pukki. I wouldn't mind Rhodes coming on board but this fella sounds like a real prospect hitting his strides now.

Yes, he does seem to be a good fit in the SW/DF mold!

Just seen Babel's cracking goal for Fulham yesterday. 5 goals in 14 games now and available on a free transfer. Are we tempted?
