Many of my manc supporting mates are dreading tonight . Not because of the power of City but of the implications of ANY result. The match which they simply cannot win as a fan. Every single possible result will have a huge negative. Win or draw they give us the title (despite all the restraint here). Lose they can forget cl as you say. And the club goes onto a humongous losing streak with pogba using it as another excuse to go to Madrid.

Win or Draw for OGS = LFC title
Lose = City title

I'll be praying and begging for an early United goal and Pogba playing out of his skin

 

I dont think that if city draw/lose we definitely win the league
All three following games present their own issues.
The wolves game could be very tricky.
Newcastle is no gimme, i am sure we played newcastle a few years back with nothing on it for them and they drew with us or won, i know it wasnt good.

The one thing the mancs can cling to is LFC need to win 3 games even if the mancs do have a draw or win.

Its entirely short termism on their part as it greatly reminds me about LFC fans attitudes back in the day Oh who cares about utd they are miles off our smug little perch.. blah blah.

Its not 7 years and counting for the mancs and they are miles off currently. they will remain that way if they don't get thier heads in the city game.

city: 5 league titles, 5 fa cups, 6 league cups, 1 uefa cup
Utd: 20 league titles, 12 fa cups, 5 league cups 3 eueopean cups, 1 europa, 1 cup winners cup

In short city have already surpassed them in league cups (they won't care) but over the next 5 years will be much closer to the utd versions of manc twats.

When utd lose my view is you'll have certain twats saying no title for LFC but they will have consigned themselves to 6th place in the league by doing so and laughing at them will be very nice. they will be crowing about costing us the title by drawing with us and so forth but in reality it's like someone who's stadning naked in the snow laughing at you cos your own nice warm coat hasn't got a gucci label.


This titles not been in our hands and city have been on a 10 match winning streak. if city win all their games and we end up on a 9 or 10 match winning streak too then thats fair enough.

Obviously has no bearing on the game but very interesting, i have said it before but i have never been a massive fan of Pep
Would love to see the same stats that ibwt got but for all his sides year on year, that said Barca used to get away with many many challenges.
Did not really watch bayern, but the rule as with city appears to be they can foul but no one can breath on them imho.

Of course nothing is automatic . But if we don't win our last 3 matches, the easiest we could have picked ourselves then the players and klopp need stringing up by their BALLS !

I've no hesitation #nojinx to declare that we have won the title should United get anything from tonight's match. It is that defining.

I do not and have never had reason to trust us leading from the front, the only way i have ever seen us winning a title is on the last day as we seem to struggle when we lead. We seem to get nervous, and tbh quite rightly
Its a massive thing for us just need the players to get their heads right, not sure there is anything Klopp can do about that now at this stage.
Just have to hope that if we do by some miracle get handed the initiative we dont fluff it

IMO, and just imo our "sticky" period just happened to coincide with when VVD got that sickness and lost a stone in weight due to stupid training camp. Once Matip got really fit and VVD was back to commanding the line we improved IMO and have got back to no fear

IMO the way we played v chelsea at home summed things up. Too many lads not getting in box and not hruting them. Klopp sends them out after HT and we are all over cheslea but if cheslea had the quality to get out of that tight press we were wide open imo

Its classic spanish football. If you "tackle" you get a card cos people roll about 5 times.

If you block runs and obstruct or use your body rather than your boot to knock someone over you get away with it with english refs.

Especially early in games.

the pep play book:

Stand over ball
Pick ball up then try to talk to ref
throw ball high in air when giving it back
Block off runs, cut across players lines of run.
Obstruct
run into players.
Pull arms (not shirts)
if someone falls down smile and pick them up.

You rarely see someone going to ground for city, they are not very good at it.

City's philosophy comes directly form the barca training ground. They try to win ball back for a count of 5... max. then they foul. you can watch and if a side has the ball still after 5 seconds a foul will occur unless its played all the way back. Pepe does not allow a ball to move from back to front for an opposing team in any sort of transition phase of play.
