Evening Albert Cant be arsed to look back but Perez has certainly stuck it up the doubters Certainly my M o M today Newcastle's Ayoze Perez has scored seven goals in his last seven Premier League appearances at St James' Park
Bet Dummet is ****ing fizzing, he would’ve been a dead cert for MOTM had it not been for Perez’s hat-trick! Perez looks a different player at the moment like!
Top goal scorer. Double figures in the PL. More consistency in the first half of the season and he could've been pushing for between 15 and 20 goals and we'd have a £50M player on our hands
Hes been brilliant. I think he's taking advantage of being afforded some more space as we have some more threat at the top end of the pitch. I think Miggy has actually made a big difference as he keeps the oppo on the back foot more. Also we have to tie Rondon down for next season in my opinion. Even if you bring in another striker if we are to move forward we can't be totally reliant on one CF to lead the line.
I'd like to tie down Rondon but we are going to need more professionalism from him to make it worthwhile. The state he turned up for the start of the season was a disgrace. Since the international break he has looked sluggish and lazy again, and did so again despite our win on Saturday. My concern with him is what happens once he has a contract? He hurt us on Saturday because when Miggy and Perez were pressing high, he was only joining in sporadically. This was giving them an out all the time, you could see Miggy and Perez were getting frustrated. I agree though, Miggy has been massive for Perez. Its that high press. Miggy is a funny one. He looks like a headless chicken at times. Its only because he is used to playing a more modern high press whereas we have spent the last 3 years learning Rafa's counter attack. Ritchie has a go at Miggy for not holding position. There will always be times you need to do that, but to move up the table we need more than just good counter attack. Perez has been energised by having a partner in crime to press high. Instead of turning round to see his teammates 60 yards back, he at least now sees he has company. I have kept saying I'd like to see Perez in a more attacking team, just to see what effect it has because he has spent a lot of time chasing lost causes or being isolated. That has been the role for attacking players here in the last few years.
I'm beginning to think that along with Jacob Murphy he has a twin who is infinitely better than him and it is he who has been turning out for us the last few weeks.
He's come good recently and is to be applauded for that. If he can add consistency to his game, then Mike is sure to sell him.
Never listen to the majority of Newcastle fans they have no idea what a good player looks like and over the years they've chased out many young talents.
