What would the odds be on the same result?
I remember that game like it was yesterday or is it that i have watched it enough times on YouTube?
I feel like a kid again with excitement as if Christmas is this coming Monday as I can't wait for the match to start.

God I was at that match too, the most exciting match I have ever seen...weren't we 4 nil down and then 5 v 4 down with no minutes to go. I always thought Gazza made his league debut then but Wikipedia tells me it was the next year

It is definitely one of those “I was there” games, and yes, I was there. Strangely it was our third goal that I remember best, John Gregory was a very good player in those days.

I’m sure I read that Mullery had written off the game at half time, but it was assistant manager Frank Sibley (I think) who believed that we could come back from 0 - 4 and inspired the team to do so.

The same Mullery who inspired us to lose a 6-2 lead in Belgrade...:steam:

I was in the paddock and loads of people went home at half time ... I can't remember much about the goals but do remeber Gary Mickelewhite nearly scoring with a backpass!

we stood in the Loft and I took the mrs and at half time she said "its only 0-4 and weve still got the 2nd half " I gave her some expletives as you can imagine and till this day im reminded of it! great comeback..big jack wasnt a happy bunny!..mullery said "These kind of games are great for the fans but they give managers heart attacks. We needed a miracle in the second half and we got it"..

Yes what a day 500mile round trip to and from the toon, my bro a toon fan and myself travelled on the toon supporters bus, they could not understand why i had such a large grin on my face on the way back. My bro and i were in the South Africa Rd stand near the loft, at half time down 4-1 a young r`s fan says would it be great if we came back to draw, well what a prediction, my bro went for a drink i declined, might have drowned myself. We talk about that day every time we see each other no doubt we will again monday night in the local to watch the match. cum on u r`s

Was it really 26 seasons ago this game. I was in X stand ellerslie and our gasp equaliser and celebrations was all to much for the Newcastle fans and seem to recall they wanted to vent their anger out against us. Those were the days. I remember we were clueless untill half time and the same can be said about the Geordies in the 2nd half. Probably the best moment in Alan Mullerys managerial career for us.

best game I have ever been to. I am sure that we also had two goals disallowed as well.
