Why does he constantly get linked with moves away? He’s regularly billed as surplus to requirements but for me he’s the first name on the team sheet. I love the bloke and he always gives 100%. Is it a press thing?
Wouldn't be sad to see him go. He's served his purpose but is being played out of position now mainly because we have no one better to play there. Work rate is without question but end product is distinctly lacking for me for a someone who is meant to be a winger. Coupled with the fact that he refuses point blank to pass to Almiron he can **** right off now for me. If Rafa wants to play with wingbacks he needs to find someone who's (a) relatively quick, (b) mildly skillfull and (c) can ****ing cross the ball.
I'd personally keep him until his contract runs out, someone said earlier on twitter - he's a bit of a James Milner - will play anywhere but Keeper and do you a decent job. Work rate, hunger, passion, he won't let people in the dressing room not pull their weight, a leader without an armband. Limited but can cover numerous positions to a decent standard, as a squad player don't think we can find one much better than him! Obviously if he is after a new deal and is going to kick up a fuss I'd sell as I don't think he is the be all and end all but on his current contract he's a useful team member.
Keep him for me. Good squad player and you know what you get with him. I'd want a first choice wing back in the summer, but I wouldn't mind him being around as cover and offering a natural wide option to switch to a four.
Assuming he has 1 year on his current contract just keep him. The amount we would get for him by selling him now won’t be that significant. If we did decide we need him longer could offer a contract extension mid-season.
If we sell him it's just plain rediculous if you ask me. He's a leader in that squad and for that alone he's a keeper. As rightly said he can play to a good standard in a bunch of positions and he has got quality on the ball. It's a no brainer.
