If the finally sell the club and get their money back, they will say they effectively sold the club for nothing. They will spin it that way if questioned.
To be honest, I know 50 million is 25 million too dear. But we look a reasonable investment going into next season if we keep the players together, that been a big if and keep the manager on board. The fact Bowen is worth 20 million screws the value somewhat. Another thing is I can see a lot of club having money and FFP problems next season, the likes of Derby and Sheff Wednesday come to mind. We are open to someone laying out a bit of cash on the squad and anyone that came could bring back concessions and have the place rocking next year. All a pipe dream I suppose. It’s more like Allams sell everyone, lose Adkins, replace with hasbeans and frees and we will be rock bottom by next Xmas with Dowie in charge
I think the FFP rules now only allow 15 million of loses over 3 years, so even if a new owner puts all the loss into the first year do you really think we could buy enough good players to get us promoted in that first season? Said before that the gap (now gulf) between the Premier League teams including those relegated with parachute payments, and ordinary Championship clubs is becoming insurmountable. The Premier League is almost a closed shop.
Yes, I know. You are of course right. But nowhere in that quote, or other earlier dialogue (until quite recently) did he put it across as that. As well as that very clear quote, he also said things like 'gift', '24 hours', 'penny', 'give it away', 'gone', and most infamously 'I never go back on my word ... never'. Lying scum.
Exactly, I always remember it as a gift, but like they always do, they will say they never meant it literally, but the fact they loaned the money to save the club, that action was the gift. I just wanted to point out that they are liars, and will spin things to suit their purpose at any given time.
Remember back in the day when the perception was (for a while) that Ehab was the sensible one and that once he got control over his dad it would be much better? ****ing hell how times change.
They won't get a buyer...he will sell the players for what they can get during the summer and sell it for a quid as no way will they want to carry the personal expense into next season. Then he will claim he promised to sell it for £1 as he said he would (excluding the reality of ****ing up the club during most of the parts of his tenure)
It’s hardly a closed shop, we have been in it on 3 separate occasions. If we’d have signed a decent centre half and a back up for Campbell we wouldn’t be far off the play offs. 3-4 million could of done that on loan fees or a signing or two. Let’s not forget we have Mazuch, McDonald, Toral and Dicko cluttering up the wage bill. Here’s another perspective. There’s 12-14 empty seats. New owners even if they charge a fiver that’s 75k or more to spend on wages. I know it’s all immaterial at the moment because we have these clowns in charge. However as a Championship club we have tremendous upside as a club for sale at the minute.
As I said the gap is getting wider, over 100 million for coming last in in the Premier League plus the parachute payments for the next 3 years (40 odd million? ) Compared to the FFP rules in the Championship, lets say a club which is balancing its books decides to go for promotion they won't get to buy many decent players, pay them and stay anywhere near the FFP rules. Because there is so much money in the Premier League the value of players has gone up, talk of Bowen been worth 20 million is a good example, fine if you have one to sell and balance the books not so good if you need to buy a player in your drive for promotion.
**** me that's comedy gold! I would happily pay to see that put up in full view of his Melton factory
