you have little choice but find your own solutions a lot of the time .
The benefits thing is a bit weird as i was about to post "i don't know many who don't claim the benefits they are entitled to" then remembered how loads of people thought i should be getting a benefit i didn't think i should get so you may have a point .You do also get some who just play the system so bit like every part of the benefit system.

 

There's going to be variations, as it's such a broad church. Sadly, those abusing it mean that the genuine claimants have to find a way through what can be quite a degrading maze.

some of the crap the outsourced "medicals" come out with beggars belief .
Edit - the abuse of the system is just an excuse it is purely about cutting the bill which the points system they introduced under Labour is designed to help show where to change the parameters and how much it will save.

 

I'm fortunate to have only experienced it from the outside so to speak, helping others that were going through it.

They way that they were resigned to the things they had to go through spoke volumes. I think it would open a lot of peoples eyes if they spent time with the disabled. I found it both humbling and inspirational.

It really put some of the things I thought were problems into perspective. They accepted the problems they face just doing 'normal' day to day tasks in the same way I accept I'll never be a gold medal pole vaulter.
