My dad passed away at 5:15am this morning. He hung on for 15 days without any fluids or food before finally slipping away peacefully. Very surreal being with him as he went, but glad I was there to help him take his final step.

So my journey with dementia has come to an end and the old boy is now free of his torment. Bless him <peacedove>

My condolences Piskie. The death of a parent is something we all have to come to terms with and I am sure it was a great comfort to him to have his son there at the end.

    May he Rest in Peace.

Sorry to hear about your dad mate. Life is often great until the end bit, I’m sure you’ll remember the best parts of him and not focus on these last days.

None of us knew POPSKIE but he raised a good man, so he must have been a G.

    Take it easy bro.

So sorry mate. The death of a parent is always like losing a part of yourself. My old mum died last year and things still don’t seem the same without her.

As you say, he’s at peace now.

    All the best.

Sorry about the bad news brother

You’ve done a great job looking after him and hopefully you can console yourself with that knowledge over time.

I’m happy for you that you was there for him when he slipped away...these things mean something when we look back at our own lives

    RIP your Dad

Thank you for all of the messages, it means a lot. I've said it before on here but it's worth mentioning again, that although this place can seem like a **** fest at times, when somebody is going through a tough time, then the true character of people shines through and we rally round to offer each other support.

So thank you all again for that.

    Love n Peas <peacedove>

    Thank you brother.

He brought me into the world, looked after me and raised me to be a good man, and the very least I could do for him was to return the favour when he could no longer take care of himself.
