Good post...but completely disagree about Winks. His job was to cover the defence with Sissoko, taking turns to get forward and to win the ball back and to make a nuisance of himself. I thought he did it brilliantly.
So much for those who thought the new stadium would go against us. Sam Allardyce said we'd made a mistake moving so late in the season from Wembley.
You guys played very well, and defended far better than I thought (Rose, Son, Winks and Sissoko were brilliant, Lucas did well when he came on too). But was anyone surprised that Mahrez stayed on the pitch for as long as he did? Not only could he have been sent off for a shocking tackle on Lucas, he was absolutely garbage the entire game. Too one-dimensional and was slowing City down every time he had the ball. Even when he tried to create chances, it was too easy to read. Seemed very strange Guardiola kept him on for so long considering he had de Bruyne and Sane on the bench (who only came on with 5 minutes of injury time left ). Also thought Fernandinho was lucky to stay on the field too.
Clean sheet was important, the goal was a bonus. We are in with a shout. We just have to score one at the Emptyhead.
1) for all city's talk of not being intimidated by the ground, they pretty much shat themselves from minute one. They did not like the atmosphere and nor did their fans who rarely sang. 2) the atmosphere from what used to be park lane (the wall) snd shelf side was fantastic...can't wait to see the highlights and hear the noise. 3) the team had a game plan and executed it brilliantly. EVERY player was worth their place. I would take Eriksen off set pieces though. Dele looked dangerous and I know he took risks that did not always work he was instrumental in upseting their rhythm. 4) can not understand the penalty decision or booking Rose but not booking stirling but that said I do think overall the ref did well...he refused to give the diving twats (yeah...walker...I am fecking looking at you) anything. 5) Hope the prick who ran on is banned for life...****er will get us fined and could have cost us the match ut more importantly worried the players and staff...well done pochettino for getting involved in the right way. 6) city's fans were awful throughout...there was even a scuffle at one point in the second half between a couple of them and a couple of spurs...again...hope they are banned. People do not need to worry avoid being caught up in twats fighting...or their kids getting dragged into it. 7) I FECKING LOVE OUR NEW GROUND
DGC gonna be loving this Anyway Well done to the 12th man Bitter sweet tonight what with the Kane injury Poch will be earning his corn for the 2nd leg...we can do them but we will have to have our wits about us. They will come at us...we get 1 they need 3 personally a bit dissapointed we didnt convert another chance...i think we are too wasteful in general. COYS
To be honest it would have been miserable at wembley...people do not understand how souless that ****hole is as a home ground
Yes, I am loving this because it's vindication isn't it? Dier Hard, what did you feel when Kane went off? I'll be TOTALLY honest with you I felt relief and nodded that we'll win it.
Good performance, great result and we'll have to live with some unfortunate side effects. The atmosphere in the first half was great and it was probably helped by City being fairly negative. The seemed to want to avoid a loss at all costs, but it backfired horribly and took all of the sting out of their game. Plenty of possession and territory, but not nearly enough chances or attempts on goal. Some superb individual efforts out their tonight, but I don't really want to single anyone out. The team did what they needed to to get the result and they virtually silenced the away fans, which is unusual. VAR is still ****, though. Wildly inconsistent and unpredictable. UEFA kitting out their officials in City colours probably didn't help, either. Guardiola always has his team make a ton of tactical fouls and they always get away with it. Very dirty tonight and they got what they deserved in the end.
'' At all cost don't let the opposition score'' seems to be his game plan/talk. ''If you can't defend honestly then pull them back ( a pull rarely gets a yellow )''
The shackles come off Son...as ive said before its because Kane occupies too much space...he should concentrate more on the Penalty area and let the wingers do their job. He goes off and Son gets his space to express himself more. Plus as strikers go...Son is a free spirit...Harry is a machine...its down to Poch to make this work. Selling Kane is not an option
Agree with all but the last few words Spurlock. Son is freer without Kane and is more versatile and more use to us, he's better than Kane in my opinion BUT, sell Kane while the going's good.
Nah you guys should keep kane. I don't want to ever see you guys win the league so you should keep him at all costs please
Now now Bobby, sarcasm doesn't become you. I think by selling Kane we could get some quality players in with the money.
