Manchester United have announced they have have completed the signing of Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea. The Spanish youngster was widely known to be Sir Alex Ferguson's preferred choice to replace Edwin Van Der Sar and had recently undergone a medical at the club. But the Red Devils have now confirmed that the 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford. The Spain Under-21 keeper is believed to have cost in the region of £18million. De Gea said: "I feel very proud and I can't wait to start playing here. "When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you it obviously makes you very, very happy. "I saw their interest as an extra motivation to work even harder to show off my ability. "It's a great privilege to be part of a club like United and I'm keen to do my best and show what I can do." This signing takes United's summer spending beyond the £50 million mark as De Gea joins fellow new recruits Phil Jones and Ashley Young at the club.
