Attended the dunston harriers point to point Sunday to see Trev.its a right handed course with undulations and the three mile races take in 20 fences . Trev contested the conditions race with six going to post. A very nice Oscar gelding called local show was a hot favourite and duly obliged with plenty in hand. Trev traveled well for two circuits jumping soundly but just didn’t have the speed to keep up finishing last. He really needs four miles and will go to the heythorp in two weeks. And eye catcher in the race was a multiple winner on the flat that had never jumped a fence in public before but enjoyed the gd/fm called Poyle Thomas. I stayed for a couple more races in the second I backed the rag at 8/1 finishing second behind another hot favourite called chapelier who showed nothing for Edward o’grady in Ireland but hosed up being by Arcadio. My selection was a nicely bred scorpion gelding by beneficial. In th third I backed the rag again a smartly bred sir Percy gelding by hurricane run who I thought would enjoy the ground. Alan hills multiple point winner broken eagle went off hot favourite and led from start to finish. My selection struggled with his jumping being a multiple hurdle winner under rules and going into the final circuit was at least 25 lenngth down on the jolly in fourth but absolutely flew round on the flat turning into the home straight with two to jump five lengths down but unable to catch broken eagle finishing four lengths down. I was very impressed with the standard of both horses and jockeys and we retired to the horse box for a debrief and a vey nice picnic and a few drinks. Overall a good day and am looking forward to the heythorp on the 27th.
Just getting ready to go off and see Trev run in the 3mile6 conditions race at cocklrbarrow . Been told he should run well will enjoy the trip and the overnight rain will help.
Just back from seeing Trev. He finished fifth of nine and ran a decent race. The standard was of the highest quality but Trev is probably on the downgrade but my mates learning loads and when he come back in was buzzing.off down 131 for a nice roast dinner.
No he must’ve just been looking after ponies, they ran in the morning. Sal Randal had an entry but was a non runner. I did bump into the forums favourite Corinthian who hacked up in a maiden in the last and bradstock had a winner. It was mobbed despite the weather.
Sorry mis understood who you meant by Charlie. If you meant Longsdon. I did see him but didn’t recognise him at the time, he was wearing a Barbour, wellies and a bobble hat.the country uniform these days.
Thought I’d give you an update on Trev. He raced Saturday at the high Easter point to point on Saturday, where he finished a respectable third in the 3mile members race. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it and it was decided to retire him. As some on here will know the the standard is really high and age is catching up on Trev and he’s struggling to keep up but he’s a sound jumper and finished all his races and taught my mate loads. As for the future Trev is gonna finish his days hunting with the Essex and there could be a pointer or two incoming, il keep you posted.
