    Stunned.

    :)

I'm hoping we'll play with more freedom in this. Yes it's a huge competition, but the expectations aren't the same as they are in the league this time round.
The pressure of each PL game seems to be showing and I don't think the players are really enjoying their football. Hopefully this game will give them a different mind-set too.
Nice 4-0 win would do it.

Liverpool have bounced back well from the disappointments earlier this year with three victories on a trot in the Premier League. The Reds beat Bayern Munich comprehensively in the last round to qualify for the Quarterfinals.
FC Porto and SL Benfica are currently tied on points in the Portuguese top tier league table. Out of the last 10 games, the Portuguese outfit have won 9 games in all competitions. With some experienced players in the squad, they will be hoping to outshine the runners up

LFC fitness latest: Updates on Gomez, Lallana and more

Jürgen Klopp has provided updates on the availability of Joe Gomez and Adam Lallana ahead of the Champions League clash with FC Porto on Tuesday night.

Lallana is likely to miss the first leg of the quarter-final at Anfield due to a slight muscle issue.

The playmaker sat out the 3-1 win at Southampton due to the injury; however, Klopp doesn’t believe it to be serious and expects to be able to call upon his services once more this weekend.

The manager also explained why Gomez was among the travelling squad last Friday and took part in the pre-match warm-up with his teammates.

Klopp told his pre-Porto press conference at Anfield: “We wanted to have Joe around, not because he is now 100 per cent ready but it was just nice to have him.

“He could be maybe [available] but for him it’s better to have more sessions. Joe needs that, he is not long enough in training.

“If we don’t struggle players-wise, that we don’t have enough, then we should not think about Joe for the next one or two weeks because now he needs really proper training. He was around, that was good.

“Adam was only a little thing, we don’t have to talk about that. It kept him out for the weekend and maybe for tomorrow.”

Elsewhere, Klopp confirmed a handful of his squad were nursing minor aches and pains following the victory at St Mary’s, though he expects them to be ready to take on Porto.

He added: “All the rest should be OK.

“We had little problems after the game, back problems here, Gini Wijnaldum a little back problem, Joel, I think even Virg from a fall on the ground. But they all should be OK, hopefully.”

Played one decent game there... and it was decent and what we needed and he's gone again.

Ox, Gomez... those are the ones we need.

It's been a funny campaign this year, my over riding memories recently are either if us blowing everyone away and nearly winning it or bowing out after a damp squib of an effort.

This time we look efficient and professional. The early poor results away that had me ****ting myself about Bayern have been shown as unimportant.

We look like European regulars again rather than hopeful wannabes

On your last sentence - goes to show what happens when you bring in a proven Top quality manager. No coincidence that we struggled for consistent CL qualification with Kenny, Roy and Rodgers.

True but you also have to argue that it’s a waste of £100k+ a week in wages if you’re only getting the odd game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both he and Studge go in the summer - big wages off the books and we open spaces in the squad for 2 players who are more reliable (but we also lose two English players so we need to bear that in mind)

I was only talking about the now. I agree he should be off in the summer but suspect he's a Klopp favourite

I've no idea how this will go, people are expecting us to win this easily but who knows, they must be decent to be in it at this stage. I suppose that as long as we turn up and work hard we should have too much for them.

Depending on how porto setup ie come to defend or attack we could play moreno lw and just let him run at their defence and keeps one of our regular players a rest

Porto named a 23-man travelling squad for their journey to Merseyside on Monday.

The visitors will be without two of their most experienced players due to suspension - Pepe and Hector Herrera are unavailable for the first leg at Anfield.

Left-back Alex Telles – whose extra-time penalty past AS Roma sent Os Dragoes into the last eight – joined his teammates on the trip, though there are doubts over his fitness.

Asked for an update on Telles’ availability at his pre-match press conference, Porto coach Sergio Conceicao said: “I don’t know. He is better but we don’t know yet.”

On dealing with the absence of Herrera in midfield, Conceicao added: “We have to be intelligent, creative and have a good strategy. Whoever plays next to Danilo, the team dynamic is the most important thing.”

After a 5-0 home defeat last year, Porto held the Reds to a goalless draw in the return leg at Anfield and their boss believes a positive result is in their power.

“I think it’s possible to win here,” Conceicao told reporters on the eve of the game. “We’ve prepared to win, that’s what we’re going to work towards.

“We need to work very hard. Sometimes we’ll be without the ball, there’ll be difficult transitions. We have to be very balanced from an attacking sense.”

    Last time out

Southampton 1-3 Liverpool (April 5): Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Salah, Mane, Firmino.

FC Porto 2-0 Boavista (April 5): Casillas, Corona, Pepe, Militao, Manafa, Danilo, Herrera, Otavio, Brahimi, Tiquinho, Marega
