Hello, everyone. Quick summary and review of yesterday’s horses. Kilcrea Vale got round in the ‘Topham’. Albeit in his own time which was most frustrating. Topofthegame was obviously feeling the effects of his Cheltenham run as he could do no more than plug on for second. And Rhoselli Down was pipped on the line at Wolverhampton. Champ was the shining light, the rose amongst the thorns if you like as he won his second Grade 1 of the term. Although why ITV Racing inflicted us with more ‘he’s called Champ because…’ nonsense and then even worse made us endure the sight of J Pee flirting with A Pee afterwards I’ve no idea. The latter incidentally put me right off my steamed scallops. Champ now looks likely to go chasing in 2019/20 but the key thing to bear in mind with him is that he is not a young horse. If they go down the novice route, next season, that would give him just 1 attempt at the CGC (as horses aged in double digits just do not win modern day CGCs). And if he pulled out lame on the morning of the 2021 CGC as a 9YO (as he will be then) that would be Champ’s sole chance gone. I would therefore expect him to be trained for the 2020 CGC from this point on - he's certainly battle hardened enough now having run in 3 Grade 1's already. In saying that though I would not expect him to beat Santini. Onto today and was most disappointed when Mall Dini pulled out, of the GN, on Thursday evening. I know I will be called ‘the boring boy’ but for me can only see the finish being fought out by TIGER ROLL and RATHVINDEN and am on them both. Good luck all.
Away from the National I have backed.. 5.35 Chepstow-Royal Palladium @ 7-2 [Bet 365] Thrown in if on a going day
I have seen a few words going around for Flemcara, was it Stick who flagged this one up prior to Cheltenham? Wondering if there is any stable confidence for it today in the 1.45
My biggest bet of the day has went on BRIAC, at Chepstow. The jockey claimer should put it back on a winning mark.
Looking forward to putting the feet up and watching todays Aintree card. Hoping Sire Du Berlais can get us off to a flyer in the first with Gordy sourcing the services of young JON in the saddle. I like Us and Them in the novices chase for the boy wonder. I could make a case for ten horses in the national but have narrowed it down to three -Rathvinden/ Dury Duty and Joe Farrell all Ew
As usual, I have been asked by all of the family to put their bets on for the big un later, got 7 runners going now so we must hit something back. But there are a few other runners n races to pick from, so... 1:45 - Sire Du Berlais, Burrows Park e/w 2:25 - Brewinupastorm 3:00 - Lalor 3:30 - Wholestone, e/w 4:20 - Mister Malarky 6:20 - Thistimenextyear, Always Resolute, e/w As for the GN, my picks are Rock The Kasbah, Vintage Clouds & Dounikos... I've got Jury Duty from my sister, because she recently did some jury service recently, not facing one I may add... My other half has gone for Lake View Lad & Tea For Two, probably as she wants taking out tonight for tea, and can pay if her pick wins...!! My mother wants any grey that runs in the field so is waiting for the race itself to choose... It really is the people race... Good luck to all today as per usual... Let's hope and pray that they all come home safe & sound...
Ticeur in the 4 30 newcastle, alan jones sends this on a 650 mile round trip , doubt its for the brown ale , lightly raced horse , but seems to peak in the spring , has drifted to 7/1 , but that’s not an issue from a small stable . Red Indian conversely in the aintree opener has attracted steady support , stable already scored in the fox hunters , this is a decent horse , and if showing any improvement from last years run in this race , will be bang there 16/1 Demopolis in the 4 40 chep 14/1 , money came for it at fakenham last time , but the horse wouldn’t settle , only a youngster but not giving up on it yet .... My wife has gone for the clash horse Rock de Kasbah , ive done Anibale Fly ew with the ground drying all the time , Ol Redbeard won’t like it , nor Step Back , nor a number of the mudlarks ..... Good luck all who gamble !!
1.45 AUX PTIT SOINS - will appreciate the drop back to handicap company 2.25 KATESON - overpriced. beat the favourite over Christmas. will do better now back running over a shorter trip 3.00 ORNUA - money has come for this horse. I have also always been unconvinced with Lalor, who I think is the main threat. formlines for this horse are very strong 3.40 APPLES JADE - was going to go for If the Cap Fits, but I think class will rise to the top here 4.20 DEBECE - still annoyed with Kildisart for his Cheltenham run so going against him today with a horse who looks like he has been targeted for this race 5.15 TIGER ROLL NAP - a little less confident than I was, basically because I think this is a better renewal than last year, and of course you need a little luck. Main threat is clearly RATHVINDEN, although JURY DUTY also appeals. I am looking to the female jockeys for my 2 outsiders. TEA FOR TWO had an interesting prep for this at Cheltenham in the Cross Country. I got 66/1 yesterday. it is now 25/1. I also like the outsider of the field, VALSEUR LIDO at 100/1. Henry de Bromhead's horses are running well and Rachel Blackmore continues to impress. 8th in this last year and was 2nd in the Ryanair 3 years ago.
Afternoon all, Not been around much lately but I've been given 2 for today. However I'm not telling you that you have to back them. Both have already been backed though. 2.15 Chep DON HERBAGER 6/1 7.00 Wolv BILLYOAKES 13/2
Considering Tiger Roll was 3/1 to win the race with some firms earlier in the week I think the 11/4 offered on the exchanges for a first 4 finish is tremendous value Stay Lucky
I love hearing that sort of stuff...one of our lot has done rock the kasbah cause she loves the band and that song.! You only get that sort of thing in the national!
The Aintree undercard is perhaps not the greatest but here a few guesses: 1.45 Aux P'tits Soins 2.25 Brewinupastorm (to frank City Island's form again after Champ yesterday) 3.00 Us And Them 3.40 Kilbricken Storm (I know, he just jumped off the card at me) The drying ground will be perfect for my pick Go Conquer on the big one. But with no money down I will also be rooting for Tiger Roll to complete the double.
2.25 Kateson, behind Champ earlier in the season and goes fresher than the Chelters runners. 3.00 Lalor is 2-2 at Aintree i believe, that will do for me, a return to form please. 3.40 will oppose Apples at this price after her last run. Sam Spinner for me. 4.20 Kildisart, fancied this one for Chelters but did not seem to fire on the day or maybe was not good enough. Think a bounce back is on today.
yes, very much so.they say,"never forget the best form of a horse"..so true.. aintree,2 25: KATESON is a horse,i like a lot,and he had a very good season so far, apart from a blip last time out.the drying ground might not suit too well, but i still hope,he can be competitive today..may be a blessing,he missed cheltenham,so hes a good bit fresher than some others..solid e w shout..
My appalling Aintree luck continues ......... avoid the following at all costs - unless it's too late in which case I apologise! Lalor Apples Jade Mister Malarky Walk In The Park and Dounikos Good luck in swerving those
Can't see it Karlos .... the Tiger is firmly in the general public's eye now, the "housewives" will keep it fav.
