Disappointing looking trials at Leopardstown and Longchamp this weekend. Aidan has held his bigger names back and Madhmoon is odds on for the Guineas trial. Persian King misses the Prix De La Force and wasn't entered in the Djebel. There seems an air of negativity surrounding him now. These trials seem less and less relevant every year. In the Grand National it is Lake View Lad ante-post at double carpet and I've added Go Conquer 50/1 each way six places.
Apologies for the thick comment but why can't Keith Donoghue do the weight on Tiger Roll when Tiger Roll is 11-5 for the national and in his last 2 races was 11-4 and 11-3?
He couldn’t do it last year when he ran off 10 13 so they weren’t going to replace last years jock with him. Same rationale as to why he rode him in the x country.
17:15 Aintree - Ultragold e/w (Will be out of town tomorrow but hope to be back home to watch the big race which starts quite late, so I see. For my usual little wager on the race have chosen Colin Tizzard's charge, who is a rank outsider at 66/1 in most places at time of writing. I read 'stamina doubts' in many summaries but hopefully the forecast good weather overnight and tomorrow will dry the ground out a bit. Seems to jump the Aintree fences well, so worth a go e/w at the current price on offer. Very competent jockey too.) Good luck to you all with your bets tomorrow!
3.00 Aintree - Lalor- 5/1 What a shocking race this is!! You could quite easily believe that this race was a handicap. The fav just doesn’t win enough and just seems to find one too good!! Clondaw Castle a fading 4th in an Arkle that fell apart, Ornua needs better ground and will get softened up in the lead by Knockanauss who himself is a weak finisher and the other 2 are actual handicappers. I know Lalors last two runs have been disappointing but Sandown he had an excuse (forget the fact ornua finished in front) and Cheltenham well you can forgive one run like that! He is 2/2 at aintree and came in to the race last year on the back of a disappointing run at Newbury. Kayley Woolacott doesn’t seem to me to be a trainer who would rush him back if he wasnt 100%, has been schooling very well at Philip Hobbs when he’s been there for an away day and Aintree is obviously a track he likes and if he shows anywhere near the form from earlier in the season he blows this field apart and at 5/1 am willing to take that risk
Ah fair enough, shame as i think Keith gets on with him the best but good point that it would of been harsh to jock Davy off Interesting that Richard Spencer has got Outlander now and Kirby has got Don Poli now, would be kind of ironic that Elliot has 11 in the race then one of them two wins who he's just let go
I haven’t backed the National winner since 2000 when I think half the world was on Papillon, so apologies if I’ve backed yours this year. My 3 for the big one. Step Back Walk in the Mill Rock the Kasbah Also done ew L15 1.45 Coolanly 2.25 Angels Breath 3.40 If the Cap Fits 4.20 Oldgrangewood Best of luck with your bets today fellas. Have a great weekend.
Shocking Aintree from a punting perspective but if either Lizzie or Rachel make history at 5.25 this afternoon all will be fine and dandy. My 3 in the big un are Walk in the Mill, Valseur Lido and Tea for Two. Also Nestor Park has the profile and some decent novice form in the opener and Tom Lacey's Flashing Glance in the lucky last. Good luck all.
Good morning from a gloomy County Durham. Lucky 15 and an EW acca on the same horses. Not sure if Kateson was overpriced or Brewin Upastorm is underpriced. They met a few month ago with kateson getting ahead. I think we can forgive him for the last run as it was clearly the wrong trip and interesting dropping back after a break and could go well refreshed. I took 11's and it's into 9's now. Sam Spinner has had a disastrous season but we know he's got bags of potential and I think he's turned the corner now. Today could be the day, for him. In the first race I'll be backing against Sire Du Berlais, not sure who with yet. Theclockisticking looks interesting. Good luck guys and those of you who are going, enjoy your day
Surely Scheu Time makes up for last years blunder at the final fence and Jonjo jr on board takes the eye too
Have backed the following three horses in the grand national today: Vintage Clouds 16/1 each way (2nd run after a wind op often best time to catch them) Jury Duty 16/1 each way (drying ground will help and think he s an improving horse) Minella Rocco 50/1 each way (class horse and stays and if anywhere near his best must have a big chance) Looks like the weather is set fair and likelihood after a few beers I will end up having a small bet on Singlefarmpayment. Avoided the temptation so far but just have a nagging feeling he could surprise as is talented and possibly will run in to a place at massive odds. Enjoy the day and good luck all!
